Students claim Miami-Jacobs wasn’t upfront about accreditation
In Friday’s paper I reported how Miami-Jacobs Career College students at the Columbus branch campus are forced to wait until the school gains accreditation of its surgery technology before they can sit for a national certification exam.
The program in Dayton had a similar problem in 2008 that resulted in lawsuits from seven students that resulted more than $100,000 in settlements. The surgery technology program in Dayton is now accredited, but campuses in Sharonville and Columbus await a decision by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs.
Miami-Jacobs has also had issues with its respiratory care and practical nursing programs. The state moved to revoke the conditional approval of the nursing program in January, but the college won an appeal and the legal action is still pending.

I went to Miami Jacobs about 11 years ago for the A+ computer repair program. The equipment that we used was trash and the instruction books and software were out of date and obsolete. For the most part I knew more about what was being taught than my instructors did. They never followed thru with helping me find a job afterwards in any shape or way, which the school had promised that they would do. I found Miami Jacobs to be total rip off and feel that the place should be shut down forever.

Has anyone done a story on ITT Technical Institute? I graduated owing a large sum of money only to find out that ITT Tech credits are not accepted by any accredited college or business.

All of the for-profit “colleges” are rip offs. Southwestern College, now Lincoln Tech, is just as bad as Miami Jacobs. They all take anyone who is breathing, milk them for federal financial aid and then cut them loose with worthless diplomas

Miami Jacobs is one of the colleges that survives solely on Federal Pell and OIG grants, (i.e. tax-payer money) for lower income students. Thus, there are two groups getting screwed here: The students AND the tax payers. Miami Jacobs it pretty much the equivalent of The Job Corps for adults: Promises of a great careers in exciting fields like sanitation collection, stuccoing, agricultural implanting, and elderly patient excrement collection.

Crappy school. THere has been enough bad publicity about this school that anyone who decides to attend one of these diploma mills deserves what they get (or don’t get). Close em down!

Did those students not bother to google Miami Jacobs before they dropped big $ to go there? They’ve had accreditation issues for years. If you still enrolled, that’s your fault.
