Sinclair nursing program wins national accreditation
DAYTON - Sinclair Community College’s Center for Nursing Continuing Education has won national accreditation by the country’s largest credentialing organization.
The American Nurses Credentialing Center followed a voluntary peer review of Sinclair’s programs and awarded a two-year accreditation of the college’s programs that are under the workforce development group, school officials said.
“It simply recognizes the excellent instruction provided to our nurses each day and reflects our commitment to nurses of providing the highest quality of continuing education possible,” said Andrea Borchers, coordinator for the online re-entry nursing program, in a news release.
Continuing Education classes provide current nurses with updated education and help inactive nurses to re-enter the field. Sinclair has been educating nurses for 35 years.

Maybe Miami Jacobs should walk a few blocks downtown to see how to set up a program correctly. Sinclair could give them a few lessons. If Sinclair was smart, they would welcome the nursing students that have been screwed by Miami Jacobs and help them to get their accredidations.

No one can argue accreditation is a bad thing. In the context of latest data than show health care is a leading employer of women in the Dayton area this does make sense. However, Sinclair’s accreditation belies the waiting lists for potential students and its propinsity to keep students enrolled - using grant, loan funds - in other classes while they wait for a nursing program seat. This also applies to other health care curriculi. Sinclair needs to change this unofficial policy which is partially responsible for students going to ‘for profit’ schools with even worse results.
