DPS bus fix to be announced
It appears there is some sort of solution in the works to solve Dayton’s lack of high school busing for the upcoming school year.
And it sounds like just the sort of community partnership, involving the major stakeholders, that was needed. The big unanswered question is how limited (or not) will the new busing plan be and who is paying for it?
But some sort of busing plan would seem like a good substitute for no high school busing at all. Details will be announced Friday. Here’s the press release I just go this afternoon:

Terri is right. If the students are not at school why would we need additional teachers? Charterschoolteacher, are you a real teacher? I would hate to see this type of irrational logic being passed on to the students. Charter school parents BEWARE!!By Terri

Charterschool, putting money into transportation of high school students is the same as putting money into academics. If students aren’t in the desks teachers can’t teach them.By charterschoolhater

If the community wants to pay to bus the children of DAyton, then it needs to be on the district’s own yellow buses. Better yet if the community has money then it needs to better spend it on rehiring all the teachers it has laid off. This is just another reason why I will not be voting yes on a levy any time soon. The school districts leaders have their priorities mixed up. Spend money on education first and transportation second. It is very interesting to note that RTA is part of this plan. We can lay off teachers but spend our money on the salaries of RTA drivers. What a sham!!
