Supreme Court inside story

(The state Supreme Court visits Springfield in 2006)
The Columbus Dispatch is doing it’s own takeout on school funding but unlike our package in Sunday’s DDN, the Dispatch is doing a seven-day series. Now that’s ambitious.
The kick-off story in Sunday’s Dispatch was fascinating for those who have followed Ohio’s school funding case closely. Through interviews with the justices, the story reports all sorts of backroom details about how the four school funding decisions were debated, decided and written and how politics came into play.
Among the most interesting revelations — the original 4-3 decision was nearly 6-1 and some justices argued for extreme measures to get the lawmakers to change the system, such as ordering top state leaders to jail or preventing the state from spending a dime until a funding solution was crafted. Wow. Check it out.

I think maybe the justices themselves should have to explain why they issued a ruling that they knew would not be carried out, and then recommended no consequences for not following through. If they had ruled on an issue regarding the general public, they would expect the public to abide by the ruling. It would have been more honest if they had just said, “We admit the funding for the schools is unfair but since it won’t affect us or our families, we really don’t care.”By Oldprof

They broke the law; they should be sentenced, I think.
