Freshman Williams healing
Paul Williams said he’s still only about 85 percent recovered from the broken bone in his left foot that caused him to miss most of the preseason. He also suffered another setback last week with an inner-ear infection forced him to the sidelines for two games.
“It was painful,” the Dayton freshman said of the latter ailment. “In quiet places, it didn’t hurt, but if you’re around a lot of noise, it feels like your head is going to explode.”
The 6-foot-3 guard finished third in Michigan’s Mr. Basketball voting last year, once scoring 55 points in a game. His high game with the Flyers has been nine points, and he believes fans have seen only a fraction of his talents.
“I can do it all,” he said. “I just don’t give up. When I’m 100 percent healthy, I’ll do everything that’s needed of me — and even more.”

And a little info on next years help January, 2009: Kavanaugh is a workhorse. He keeps coming at his opponent in the low post and uses his body like a battering ram to get good position on the block. Once he catches it where he wants it down low it’s over; he is a high percentage shooter with a nice touch around the basket. In his head to head match-up with Yarou from Montrose Christian (Flyin’ to the Hoop), the big fella’ went for 30 points on 13-20 field goal attempts. He is a skilled post player that has good hands and feet and moves well for his size. He has a good stroke from the free throw line and is a threat from the elbow area to knock down a 15 footer. He is a good passer who showed he can pass out of double teams or start the break with a strong outlet pass. The Flyers did a great job in keeping this local product home as he will give Dayton a consistent inside scorer and a “space eater” on defense for years to come.By UD Hoops

Love the information Mongoose. Sounds like the exact think this team can use. As for Paul Williams. I like his confidence. If he’s as good as he says, he could be a huge asset down the stretch. Given the # of minutes he’s getting right now, I’m guessing the coaching staff knows how good he is, and its only a matter of time before he starts scoring.
