Flyers faring well under pressure
Dayton is 7-0 in games decided by five points or fewer this season. In the Fordham and George Washington contests, the Flyers could be accused of playing down to the level of competition. But at least you can say one thing about these guys so far: They don’t crack under pressure.
Last year’s team also did well in close tests, going 7-2 in games decided by five points or less.
“It’s a long season, and a lot of times the difference between a great season and a good season is those close games, how many do you win?” coach Brian Gregory said. “If you win most of them, you’re going to have a great season. If you win half of them, you’re going to have a good season. If you lose most of them, you’re going to have a bad season.
“We have competitive kids, and that competitive spirit has helped us in those types of games.”

I agree that at least UD didn’t crack by hanging in there and winning games it could have lost, but also should have won easily. Did anyone notice that LaSalle beat UMass at UMass on Saturday. That doesn’t say much for Dayton getting beat by UMass on a neutral court by a team with a losing record. However, if the Flyers can just win the rest of the games that they’re suppose to win, starting with St Bonnie, they should have a good enough record to get into a year end tourney, even though most of their wins are against nobodies.By Matt

Who you kidding? GW is so bad they found a way to lose the game by having 6 guys on the court. This team is gonna make the big dance but they’ll be exposed like St. Joes and Temple were last year. If one and done makes you happy, enjoy.By Harry

I’m a UD season ticket holder but last night I decided to go see Wright State play. A few things surprised me. First, WSU is very disciplined, ala Miami U and there were only a few dunks the entire game. I was expecting not many fans to be at the game but there was a very good crowd and the students were very spirited. The cost was not free and I did not get any free hot dogs, but my wife and I had seats in the corner 20 rows up for $16 and it was a bargain. We had a couple of dogs and pop for $10. The parking was a lot better than at UD. Overall, it was much better than I had expected and for a reasonable price. I’m planning on taking the entire family to another game but of course I’ll be going to the Flyers games as well. I’ll always be a Flyer fanatic, but the cost and amenities at WSU was better than UD.By Doug

Doug - Even though both will get you where you want to go, a BMW costs more than a Kia
