Wright, Little spar over dunking artistry
Dayton has 61 dunks this year and needs just one to break the school’s single-season record for slams set by the 2003-04 team.
That’s 61 jams in 18 games. The ‘03-04 team needed 32 games to reach that mark. Impressive.
Earlier in the season, Chris Wright and Charles Little, who have racked up the bulk of the slams, had a good-natured argument over who was the better dunker.
To understand the exchange, you might need to know that Dominique is Dominique Wilkins, Michael is Michael Jordan and Vince is Vince Carter.
Little: “I’m a power dunker.”
Wright: “Mine’s mixed.”
Little: “You’re like Dominique, and I’m more like a Shawn Kemp.”
Wright: “That’s a good one. … No, wait. I’m Michael-nique and you’re Shawn Kemp.”
Little: “I can’t get no mixed?”
Wright: “I’m Michael-nique and you’re Vince-Kemp.”
Little: “Thank you. That’ll work.”

I’ve heard a lot of people talk about CW transferring to a BCS school, but I don’t think that is going to happen. If he wanted to be in the NBA, he would not have picked us out of high school. Just hope he honors his commitment.By Duke

Maybe they should start worrying about winning consistently and scoring while playing D instead of who can out dunk each other.By muskie-detector

We will be very fortunate if Chris Wright stays all four years at UD. If he leaves, Little should be able to pick up the slack.By John

You very may be right, Chris may see what happened to Brian Roberts and decide for greener pastures. If BR had played at UK or IU, or OSU, he would be in the NBA right now.By Sharp

I just can’t fathom why a 6”11 white guy can’t dunk. Is it the 2” vertical????By amy katz

don p should learn a bit about basketball before posting. It doesn’t matter what school you play for - if good enough, nba scouts will find you! BR had a great shot butg was not quick enough to play defense against an nba player - maybe he’ll develop it overseas and come back to play in the nbaBy Mongoose

312, and some of the rest of you, some of you talk as if you know what’s going on in CW life, family and so forth. I know CW and his family personally and all you all know is what is written by the media and what they are told not to say. That being said don’t be shocked at the end of the season……No one knows whats going on behind closed doors. You all only know what Coach Gregory wants you to know….By thepummeler

ok just for fun, if Wright wanted the exposure to get noticed why didn’t he go to x, who also offered him?By UD fan

Before anyone comments on this post, YES, I am a UD fan and have been one for awhile but if CW decides to leave UD at the end of the season, I’d support him. Gregory’s coaching strategy stinks. He never gives the players enough time in the game to get comfortable and get a rhythm going before he pulls them out. If I were CW, I’d consider going somewhere else too. A school that will respects my skills and gives me the opportunity to grow and play.By just for fun

thepummeler, the question you asked shows that you haven’t been paying attention, CW was also offered by Ill,Mich,Mich State,Texas,X and Uk at the end along with several others…however the reason he didn’t go to X from what I was told by his AAU coach, his mother had a problem with something at X, no details were given but why don’t someone ask her she will tell you, I do know that…..By Jeff

In my opinion, Chris Wright is the better dunker purely because of his freakish athleticism. Charles Little has relatively small hands which makes it more difficult for him to throw down the soaring one hand jams. With CWs bigger hands, greater height, and leaping ability, his dunks look more impressive as the ball comes down from a higher peak.By FlyBoy

If Chris Wright quits after this year, I say GOOD RIDDANCE! If he thinks he is bigger than UD, then we will be better off without him. We have Matt K coming in next year. We don’t need Chris Wright.By Kurt

Ok, Just For Fun..I’m not sure what you are insinuating but if it is a transfer why would CW do that? He has to give up a year of eligibility which leaves him with 1 to try and show something..if it’s a jump to a Pro League, he’s dreaming. My money is on Chris being here all four years and those of us who aren’t so negative all the time will enjoy the heck out of what is to come.By Mike

Why would CW leave? He would have to seat at a year. I see players in the NBA all the time that I have never even heard of that come from real small schools. If your good enough the NBA will find you know matter where your at. Thats why the run camps in the summer as well.By Mike

Chris is not leaving this year for the NBA. He’s not ready. Might be ready after next season. If he is and he wants to go… I’ll support him. Go for the money, that’s what this nation is all about. Make the money while you can. Can always come back for one more year of college to get the degree. How many chances do you get to make a few million a year? Not many.By nullyarb17

CW is the best athlete that I’ve see and his character is better than that. When you put the two together that=success.NBA or the work force,CW will be ok.Believe that. For any one to say something less about him lets me know that that person doesn’t know him.
