Man gets in fight while serving community service

A man sentenced to serve community service is accused of beating the operator of a ministry organization that helps ex-offenders.

He was ordered to complete 300 hours of community service and showed up at the ministry building on East Fifth Street at 9 a.m., only to become angry when the man in charge didn’t arrive until 10:45 a.m.

When he was informed that he would not receive service credit for the time he was waiting he got in the other man’s face and was asked to leave.

After refusing to leave several times he took a swing at the other man and then choked him and pinned him against a wall.

He eventually fled without performing any of his community service hours and with a possible additional criminal charge of misdemeanor assault.
