Two armed people arrest in Northland Village drug bust
Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies Wednesday raided an apartment in Northland Village, arresting two armed people and seizing firearms, drugs and money.
Also inside the apartment at 1897 Palisades Drive were three children, all 3 years old and younger.
According to Sheriff Phil Plummer, citizens’ complaints about suspected drug dealing were given to two deputies who patrol the complex. After an investigation, the deputies turned over the evidence to the RANGE Task Force, which got a search warrant. The warrant was served by the Regional SWAT Team on Wednesday afternoon.
Inside, the deputies found Charles Houston and Whitney Johnson, both armed with holstered handguns. Both were arrested without incident. Plummer said Houston had a concealed carry weapons permit.
The deputies also found more than 1 pound of marijuana, several hundred dollars in cash and two assault rifles.
“This is a reflection of us cracking down, of zero tolerance,” said Cindy Porter, Northland manager. She credited the two deputies who regularly patrol the complex for acting on the tips from residents.
“The deputies are making a difference and so are the residents who don’t want this kind of thing in their neighborhood,” she said.
“I just moved the man (Houston) in. He had a clean record,” Porter said. “If he’s involved in this, he won’t be here long.”
Plummer said Johnson and Houston could face multiple drug charges and child endangering.
