Guns, drugs and money seized from mother and son drug team
Officers hit the jackpot when they raided a home in the 1900 block of West Riverview Ave., Nov. 17, disrupting what they believed was a mother and son drug operation.
Among the evidence found in the home was 11 firearms — including two loaded assault rifles — nearly 80 grams of crack, around 14 grams of cocaine, 180 grams of marijuana and $53,511 in cash.
That is not a misprint.
After making and recording two controlled buys from the address, narcotics detectives got a search warrant and hit the house, finding firearms and drugs throughout most of the two-story house.
In a closet in the bedroom belonging to Carmen Bond, 43, officers located two 12-gauge shotguns, a .22-caliber rifle, a .38-caliber handgun and a Smith and Wesson revolver.
According to a police report, the elder Bond acknowledged the handguns were hers, but said the rifles and shotguns belonged to her fiance.
As for why she allowed her 25-year-old son Doshie Bond to sell drugs out of the home? She had no answer.
Carmen Bond faces a possible charge of permitting drug abuse, while her son was charged with having weapons on disability, possession of drugs and trafficking in drugs.
