Same old mess, and some pretty lights

As you know, I’ve been complaining for months about the tie ups on Ohio 4 in Hamilton. This morning, I was almost hit head on because of it. The orange cones have one lane now blocked just south of High Street and Ohio 129, all the way down to the Grand Blvd.area.

I was headed northbound on 4 this morning coming under the railroad overpass, when a Hamilton firetruck headed southbound sped around the curve and almost got me head on. I did not hear it, and he lost roadway, and had to swerve into my lane, and had I not swerved to the berm of the road, I may not be writing this.

There is a speed sign posted there, but for an emergency vehicle, that is not even an issue. Trust me, if you are anywhere on Ohio 4 in Hamilton, be careful, but if headed north just south of Ohio 129 pay extra attention as you come around that curve.

On a brighter note (literally!) my best of the best Christmas light travels kicked off last night, and I found a couple of wonderful spots for you to check out. First of all, kudos to both downtown Hamilton and downtown Fairfield for their city displays. VERY NICE!

In the city of Fairfield, you should check out a home on Southwind Dr. (This street is between Ohio 127 and Hicks Blvd) This gentleman has been doing his display for over 40 years now, and people line up in their cars and on the sidewalks to see his numerous churches, nativity scenes, snowmen, ect. If you go to this one, take a can good or two as well, as he is also collecting for the needy, in front of his driveway. This is WELL worth your time.

There are also a couple of similar displays on Shady Lane in Fairfield (nearby to Southwind) and one house has all of these trees wrapped in white lights, to the point it looks like a magazine display. Again, be sure to drive by if in the area.

In Hamilton, there are also plenty of spots to see pretty lights. One of the best neighborhoods is Sanders Subdivision off of Eaton Ave. If you drive on streets like Cleveland Ave., Beeler Blvd, and Thall Drive, you’re sure to see plenty of great displays. For the two hours I was out last night, I enjoyed the Christmas tunes on my CD player, had a little soda, and saw tons of beautiful lights. It really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas! (and my Christmas miracle is that I didn’t wreck into the firetruck this morning!)
