Merry Christmas to the weary traveler!
I got my Christmas present early this year. After violating my don’t drive through Trenton after 3 p.m. rule, (you’ll always get stopped by the late-day train as I did Tuesday) I came down through New Miami and guess what? Yep, the detour at Seven Mile Ave. in New Miami is gone!
You can now come straight off of Hamilton-Trenton Road down Seven Mile Ave, to N. B. street without having to detour!
This allows me to get back to my 12-15 minute time frame from Trenton to Hamilton’s West side. This is a huge deal for those of us who use this regularly, as it really does save huge amounts of time!
Like my fellow blogger Rusty, I also put the Christmas tree up this weekend. We get a live tree each year, and switched to the Frasier Fir from the Scotch Pine. It makes the house smell so good!
I get my trees at Couch’s in New Miami every year, because they have a huge selection, and they’ll cut the end off, and put it in the stand for you. There is nothing quite so funny as seeing me, in my bright yellow car, with a tree, in a stand, tied to my luggage rack driving 5 miles an hour! That in and of itself is a traffic tie up!
The biggest difficulty though is trying to get the tree straight in the stand. It was straight when I left New Miami, and of course shifted by the time I got home. It only took me all of Saturday and half of Sunday to fix it again! If you have any suggestions to make my job easier next year, it would save many tears I’m sure. But, as I say it sure does smell good!
I also am a big fan of looking at people’s lighting displays. As I travel about over the next few weeks, I’ll keep you updated on where some of the best displays are.
A quart of eggnog, the family in the car listening to Christmas CDs and looking at lights is some of the best (cheap) entertainment around!
