Traffic Notes, How to be a better fan, and forget the Butterball hotline !
The November winds are howling today, blowing cars around local highways.
I saw several delays between Hamilton and Fairfield on Ohio 4. (By the way, I HAVE to use this route to get to my office) The road is down to one lane near Hensley Ave. in Hamilton, and again at Bobmeyer Road. As always this is a big slow down so continue to use Ohio 127 or By-Pass 4 to get to Fairfield.
Traffic continues to pick up around the county each day, as we get closer to Thanksgiving. I suspect many are off work and are just getting ready for the big event.
I heard an interesting commentary on the radio today, about the importance of remembering to THAW the turkey, before Thursday. Now see, I’m just so DUMB! I would not have thought that would be something I would need to be reminded of, but yes indeedee …
Tip of the day…. Thaw the bird! (I like to think that I’m helpful in more ways than just getting you to there from here).
I did have an interesting re-route last evening, that may be helpful for you in the future. If you plan to attend any Miami University basketball games this year, as I did last night, you know how traffic just stops, exiting Millett Hall. Here is what you do:
Exit the back parking lot and proceed North on Ohio 732. If heading to Preble County and points north, just keep going. If heading to Hamilton, like I was, about 1/2 mile out you’ll see Somerville Road. Make a right, and follow to Ohio 177 south which brings you out just 14 miles north of the Hamilton city limits.
From the closing buzzer of the Miami victory, to the time I walked in my door, only 25 minutes had passed. Trust me this is an excellent way to not just sit the evening away.
One sports note I do have to mention though. Miami trounced Dayton (yeah!) but the fans in the crowd need to be a little more enthusiastic. As an alum of the University of Kentucky, I can tell you that at the Wildcats games, if you didn’t sing the fight song when the band played it, you were likely to be either arrested or shot!
While I didn’t know the words, when the RedHawks song played, I was the only one clapping in Section 130, and I felt like a fool. (although that doesn’t really bother me) I think the fans need to spend a little time in Rupp Arena in Lexington, where everyone bleeds Wildcat blue, and anything with U.K. on it is held up as sacred. Just my opinion.
In any event my summary for the day goes like this:
Stay off of Ohio 4, exit the back way from Millett Hall, cheer louder if you support Miami and most importantly: Don’t forget to thaw that turkey!
