Back in the Commuter Saddle
I’m back! After two weeks away from this blog (one week was devoted to playing Florence Nightingale to my husband after surgery), I can definitely say I do not miss rush-hour traffic.
I’d just about gotten used to rising at 4:30 a.m. and commuting at hours when there are a lot fewer cars on the road when I had to switch back to rush-hour commutes. My tolerance for traffic delays seems to be at an all-time low right now.
The first two workdays this week I commuted during morning rush hour, and the bumper to bumper traffic on I-74 at the I-75 merge was a pain, as was the bumper to bumper traffic on Central Parkway. Was it the weather? Why can’t people drive in the rain?
This morning I drove into Over the Rhine at 5:30 a.m. and it was smooth sailing through green lights all the way from Winton Road to Spring Grove Avenue to Western Avenue, Dalton Street and Liberty Street. I love that free wheelin’ feeling with no one in my way.
For gas price watchers, I report that the United Dairy Farmer station on Pleasant Avenue near Nilles Road in Fairfield has gas for $2.07 a gallon.
The UDF station at Hamilton Avenue and Roosevelt in the Seven Hills neighborhood has the same price. I saw gas at various prices up to $2.19 a gallon this morning.
It’s great to be back in the blogging saddle, sotospeak, and getting to work where there will be three hours of no interruptions before the troops roll into the office.
