Under Attack!

I had the most bizarre experience on I-75 near West Chester this morning. It was raining cats and dogs and I was northbound between Ohio 129 and Ohio 63. (I was headed to Lebanon).

As I was rolling along a gravel truck passed me, doing about 80, which in the heavy rain was ridiculous. The next thing I know, gravel pellets by the ton are flying and hitting my windshield.

Now, you may think you know what I’m talking about if you’ve had the occasional rock ding your windshield. NOT WHAT I’M SAYING! This truck was slinging gravel at a speed that all I heard was ping, ping, ping, … It was like someone was shooting at me!

So, as I’m trying not to hydroplane, while being pelleted and swerving all over the place to miss him, I almost kind of panicked. Four rocks hit hard enough to put dings in the glass, and others hit but did no damage. I had to swerve into the berm of the road to miss having my windshield destroyed!

The bad part was that it was raining so hard that I couldn’t see his license number and he was flying so fast that I couldn’t have caught him if I tried.

SO PLEASE! If you are a trucker, have consideration for your fellow man or woman! I could have had quite a bit of damage to my car, (and did get some) because you were throwing your cargo. Put a cover on your rocks and SLOW DOWN!

In any event that was my big slow down today. The rain had everything a mess. It always seems to happen when I go to Warren County. I think I’ll now call it the War Zone!

As for a recap of Halloween Trick or Treaters last night. DELIGHTFUL!

Everyone was under 10 years old and the only downside was we had about half the kids we usually do. It was also nice because so many Mom’s and Dad’s dressed up with their kids.

My personal prize award goes to one Dad dressed as Darth Vader, with an infant son dressed as Yoda! Too Cute!

I sure wish the force had been with me this morning!
