Take the road more challenging
Weekend travel lately has been taking me to parts of the region that I seldom visit. This past weekend we attended a wedding in a beautiful church at the corner of Clough and Wolfangel Roads, not too far from Eastgate Mall. The reception was held in the mall area.
It is amazing how this area, once only acres and acres of farmland, has developed since I was a child! And even in the past two or three years the number of new businesses has skyrocketed. The retail choices in the Eastgate area now seem on a par to Northgate Mall.
Weekday travel sometimes challenges my navigational skills, too.
Today my staff and I took a long lunch hour to view an art exhibit at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption on Madison Avenue in Covington. After the exhibit, we wound our way to Pompilio’s in Newport at the corner of Fifth and Washington. Pompilio’s, you may recall, was one of the local sites used during the filming of the movie “Rain Man, with Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise. If you’ve not eaten there lately, I recommend you stop by.
It’s a good thing, as Martha Stewart would murmur, to go new places and use roads that challenge us directionally.
