Ghosts, Goblins and Miami Football

While my day today has been traffic headache free, I did have the opportunity Wednesday night to learn many new lessons (actually I was forced to review old lessons learned) when I attended the Miami/UC football game.

Miami is my client, so that means some great perks, like game tickets, and with the BELL up for grabs, I had to go.

First of all, when going to a huge football match up, don’t decide to eat a sit-down meal an hour beforehand. I was in an establishment on the west side of Hamilton, and it took over an hour to serve two of us chicken roll ups. During this hour, we also had three waitresses come to our table, as they kept dropping like flies! (I never thought of myself as difficult but last night I must have been killing them!)

At 6:30, I left Hamilton for a 7:00 game, using Ohio 177 to Ohio 73 to get to Oxford. It was at the light, when the traffic line STOPPED! We slowly wound down the hill, far past Yeager Stadium, and finally parked in a nearby field. Of course this is the one time I decided not to wear sensible shoes, so the walk was VERY interesting to say the least.

I will give a kudos to the staff who was directing traffic. With all of the delay, we were still only a few minutes late to the game.

Once I arrived I then walked another two miles to my seat which was in row 53 of 65 rows. In spite of almost passing out in row 42, as I climbed (Have I ever mentioned I don’t climb?) the seats were really very good. We sat in the North endzone and had a birdseye view of Miami scoring their many touchdowns.

As the fourth quarter began, we began the long walk back to the car, which wasn’t as bad as it was when I was late for the start. While I did almost get hit by a car on the way to where I was parked, all in all it wasn’t too bad.

I was also very pleased to learn how FRIENDLY intoxicated college kids can be when you are walking into their oncoming traffic, and they’re yelling at you from their car windows. I met a large group who were just arriving at the game mid-way into the fourth quarter.

My adventure ended when I followed the signs and drove out the backway to get to Ohio 73. Do you remember the horror movies you saw as a kid? I swear I passed a few vampires as I wound down that dark road.

All in all it was a fun adventure, and the best part was Miami winning 44-16! Go Hawks!
