Pet Peeves and Crazy Sights

After reading my fellow blogger Lisa’s list of pet peeves, I felt I had to share a couple of mine.

I agree with most of hers, (although I blast ’70s & ’80s rock from my car) but I must add the age old problem of people who make left hand turns from the right lane! This actually happened to me over this past weekend on Second Street in Hamilton, and the wildest part was when the driver’s boyfriend yelled, and gestured at me when I almost hit them!

I also notice an increasing number of ALMOST wrecks with people talking on cell phones while driving. I too am guilty of using my cell phone behind the wheel, but I like to think that I’m safe while doing so. (don’t debate me, let me have my fantasy!)

I have also seen some crazy sights around the area lately. These aren’t pet peeves, but I found them to be jaw droppers.

First, the Big Dummy award goes to the three boys on bicycles who decided to take a ride on the catwalk of one of my company’s billboards! True Story. As the tikes raced across the narrow structure which happened to be hanging over a 50-foot ravine, I was stunned. ATTENTION BOYS! Police have been called! If you try this again, and survive the fall, you and your parents will be the proud owners of a $40,000 billboard structure!

I was also shocked one day, as I drove along Ohio 4 and saw someone swinging on a porch swing that had been attached to one of our structures. We let this one go, as the weight should be sufficient, and I must applaud the hanging flower pots they placed along side!

Finally, the most fun I’ve had happened a few months ago on University Blvd. in Middletown. We have a row of structures that I was driving by, and as I picked up speed, I noticed someone was racing me. The cool thing is, he was on a horse! You don’t often get to drag race a horse while riding through the center of Middletown!

One last bit of fair warning to those who yell at me from car windows, if they don’t appreciate my driving skills.

If you gesture me to get out of my car, in your fit of road rage, I probably will, too! I’m only 5’7” but I’m scrappy! (just kidding, please don’t call me out)

The one time this did happen to me. with this big hulk of a man yelling at me, I yelled at him to COME ON!. (My father had just died.) Fortunately he was so taken aback by me, he just looked appalled and drove off! (Thank goodness!)
