can anyone at the journal find a copy of the aeif bylaws? 2 trustees have resigned and no election has been held to replace them, i wonder what the procedure is according to the bylaws.

yes,if Ak or USW argues against the results before thurs Aug 3 there will be another vote.The only two on the ballot will be USW and IAM.So those of you who voted IAM by mistake can vote the right way this time.

If it is true that Neal was thrown out for revealing secrets, then what about Brian Daley’s secretive misappropriation of our Union funds to take care of his grandson’s little league baseball team? I believe that if AK Steel or USW contest the voting results by Thursday, there will be a re-vote for the top two (IAM and USW). Is this correct?

I was a week late filing for benefits and a weeks vacation leaves me with about six weeks left. I predict that unless the IAM janitors and luggage handlers pull magic out of a hat before the next union meeting it is going to get nasty….like Brian is going to get told to his face how stupid he is and the board for following him.

This didn’t start here in middletown….the Cincinnati firefighters and police started paying on their benefits a few years ago. Brian is going to have to remove hiself from his throne. 6 weeks unemployment left.

There are two groups of people in our union -

1) Those who think for themselves and can see the big picture.

2)Those who blindly accept what they are told as gospel.

A 57% IAM win is not a landslide victory. The 43% who voted USW will always keep the best interests of the retirees and members close at heart, and sometimes that means removing Brian Daley and the board.

I cannot believe the childishness of our current board and the newly elected union. I cannot believe how many of the union members agreed to follow you to nowhere. I voted and supported USW, I have admitted that I cannot support the president of our union, especially after hearing this. Bring us a contract to vote on, we are tired of watching you get everything YOU want. We need our jobs back more than you need any power or more money.

I think it is very chidish to ask someone to resign just because they were for another union and the other union didn,t win.They need to grow up.Children will make each other quit if someone doesn,t play the game their way but they are children and do things a child,s way,adults are suppossed to do thyings ways.

Is IAM going to give BD a big raise? I hope notbecause he is the problem. A.K. should fire him if possible and let him try to find a job in the local area. I would not hire him after what he has done to the rank and file members of A.K., but then most of them were too dumb to figure him out.

I think the politics clouded the minds of my fellow brothers and sisters and the wrong union has been voted in for the wrong reasons. I have no proof, but I think BD has turned out to be a mistake. I think he is concerned with only himself and the few close to him. This is the only reason we would receive a one page letter from Daley explaining why to NOT vote for USW. He does not seem to be dealing in good faith. I am concerned.

Mike Neal tried to save you after he considered what can happen with the IAM. Daley wants to kick him out, well that is okay but my question is what would keep the busted AEIF member from impeaching Daley and having a president that can do the job. First off I think you the AEIF member have made a terrible mistake by voting in the IAM. Now you have a union with no steel experience, yes your current board will do the talking with AK but where have they gotten you so far? (NO WHERE) They also have lied when they said they would not remove Mike Neal as a board member and Daley DID lie, again the IRON FIST BOSS HAS SPOKEN and that is a BIG reason you do not have a contract and will not get a contract for some time.

It’s unfortunate but I believe a necessary step to ask Mr. Neal to step down. He has shown where his allegience lies and the USW would only use his knowledge of negotiations as they go forward to try to cause more disruption and delay in getting the best steelmakers in the country back to work.

Ask questions… Why did the AEIF leadership support the IAM? The IAM offered the funds and resources to allow the AEIF leadership to remain in position with no threat of being ousted by a new vote. This means Brian Daley continues to receive approx. $832.00 weekly and possible gas and food allowances while sitting at home or in air conditioned surroundings “negotiating” for “us”. Call and ask about the $10,000 spent on food by the AEIF leaders during a two month span.

If you want to see where honesty lies, then ask Brian Daley why his grandson’s coach-pitch baseball team received drinks and snacks donated by the AEIF; however, the AEIF never authorized it, nor did any other team receive AEIF gratuities. Simple abuse of power and our union money, but a clear indication of lacking moral character. This is the man who’s rhetoric you believed? Call up and ask about it and see what response you get.

When will people give up this “workers of the world unite” philosphy? Yeah corporations are trying to make money and consider workers a way to do that. Likewise workers are trying to make money and consider corporations a way to do that. The corporation - worker relationship is a symbiotic one.

Hopefully, union management, with an established and recognized power base, will be able to finally do what is necessary for its members(although unpopular) and end the strike - PERIOD.

Is anything really different? NO… new union name, same union morons! BD and board haven’t done anything for us in the last 5 months will they in a month, before unemployment runs out… I doubt it. Most of the people that voted for IAM never even heard USW’s side… they only voted that way because BD stood behind a microphone and said to. I’m glad some of us can think for ourselves. Will AK, having previously rejected joining IAM pension in past meetings, now suddenly give in - especially in light of very promising performance metrics with its replacement workers? Is Daley now the local business manager for IAM? Will you guys EVER get back in this mill, or will I pay off my house by Christmas? So many questions, so little time - ‘cause I’m working 72 - 84 of YOUR hours each week.

This vote effectively is a vote to continue to strike. The recent earnings announcement should convince >everyone< that AK Steel is >not< backing down. The machinists will hold out for another 6 months to year and a half but will ultimately accept the same deal they had in the beginning.
