Bend it Like Bobby: New ‘Dallas’ Director

The Hollywood reporter has announced that Gurinder Chadha will replace Robert Luketic as the director of the upcoming Dallas movie. She’s best known for the very entertaining Bend It Like Beckham, where I first noticed Keira Knightley.

Hmm…interesting choice. I could see this going either way: Acclaimed director of sleeper hit A) Brings fresh spin to movie, or B) Gets swallowed by the Hollywood machine and movie stinks anyway.

I still would have preferred Betty Thomas, but Chadha is certainly a better choice than Luketic. Now I only have two questions:

Do you folks like the choice?

And WHY do I keep blogging about this movie I’m really not that interested in????

ADDENDUM: A search of Chadha’s credits on IMDB lists her as the director for the stalled I Dream of Jeannie movie. I guess she must really be itching to adapt SOME kind of Larry Hagman show for the big screen

I’m about as interested in J.Lo as I am in seeing a sequel to “Gigli.” Now, Jennifer Lopez, the actress who showed up for “Out of Sight” —- that’s something else altogether!

Eric, you must be more interested in J. Lo than you’re willing to admit.
