A very, Very, VERY hot Saturday night

I worked the sports desk on Saturday night, May 9, transitioning from sports writer to copy editor for one memorable evening.

Over my shoulder, on the HD TV, I caught glimpses of the Cincinnati Reds’ 8-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 97-82 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

Maybe it’s just my imagination, but Albert Pujols almost looks human.

Congratulations to that belligerent birthday boy, Aaron Harang, for silencing the Cards’ bats.

Any victory over The Genius, Tony La Russa, is worth a champagne celebration.

As for the Cavs, there aren’t enough adjectives in Webster’s Dictionary to describe LeBron James.

As my colleage, Greg Simms, said about LeBron: “He’s too quick for the bigs, and too big for the quicks.”

“King James” poured in 47 points (in 43 minutes), grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out 8 assists as the Cavaliers downed Atlanta for a 3-0 series lead.

I am a Witness. We are all Witnesses.

I plan on witnessing a Tiger Woods victory on Sunday, May 10, at The Players Championship at the TPC at Sawgrass in lovely Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. — not far from my favorite city in America … Saint Augustine.

Alex Cejka has a 5-shot lead at -11, but he’s paired with Tiger (-6), and I look for that lead to disappear and dissolve against the No. 1 player in the world.

I have one thing to say to all Studettes out there.

Happy Mother’s Day.
