Yes, indeed … He’s Ken Johnson

BENGALS ALUMNI UPDATE:

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

Congratulations to Kevin and Mr. Dad Sir (my radio son). Both are correct. Ken Johnson is the answer to my Bengals trivia question.

Nowadays Ken lives in Atlanta and is a motivational speaker for “Sports World,” an Indianapolis-based organization dedicated to “helping young people make positive choices.”

Check out Ken’s bio and watch a video of his speech at:

KEN JOHNSON’S BIO

Ken grew up in Anderson, IN where he was an All-State performer in both football and basketball. He went on to play basketball at Indiana University, earning All Big Ten honors. Ken was drafted into the NBA by the Cleveland Cavaliers, but accepted Tom Landry’s invitation to try-out with the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League because of his unique athletic talents. He didn’t make it with the Cowboys, but was picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals where he played 8 successful years in the NFL as a Defensive End. Ken now resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife, Joyce, and one son, Raphael.

I watched the Baltimore Tennessee game. Man, what a great game. Any idea how Baltimore won the game? How many people out there think Cincy should go after more defense in this year’s draft?

How does CP feel? What does he think? Here we have the Baltimore Ravens, twice beaten by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2007 and also beaten by the Miami Dolphins in 2007 for the Dolphins only win that year, and Miami beaten by the Bengals too (2007). Now 2008 comes and Miami and Baltimore are in the playoffs after their dismal season and Baltimore is only one more win away from their next Super Bowl appearance and with a rookie QB. WOW! I wonder what CP thinks about all of that, as he remains a Cincinnati Bengal. Maybe we can do a “Where’s Carson” pretty soon. Makes me feel sad for him wastin’ away in Cincinnativille.

Chick, Keep up the pressure on Mike Brown. This team needs a new GM- Point Blank. Nothing else will ever make a “real” difference. Having the right coaching, scouting, and players depends on the GM. It is proven, 18 years is enough! He does not and will never know how to be a GM.

I don’t think a GM will be effective in Bengaldom until MB is completely gone. MB would have another warm body to control and interfere with; and who would want to come here when MB is in charge anyway? Also, for MB to hire a GM would be the same as firing himself and I don’t see that happening either. A GM would cost him additional money he would not like to spend. We’ll just have to wait him out! (PS. if MB thought he could coach, he’d be there too!)

I’ve noticed a few former Bengals’pop up on playoff teams this year. I would be interested in learning which former Bengals are playing for other teams since leaving the Bengals. Thanks

According to actuarial tables, a 71 year old male like Mike Brown has a life expectancy of about 12 or 13 years. And don’t forget Chick’s reasonable expectation that things will get worse before they get better after he’s gone. Based on all that, we can expect a GM and a winning team sometime after… 2025. For those of you over 40, you can join me at the AARP lodge to watch the Bengals next playoff game. Bring your own Geritol.
