A busy, BRUTAL day for ‘The Chickster’

SHUTTING BLOG DOWN EARLY

DUE TO ‘WAR ROOM’ DAMAGE

XAVIER CLUB FOOTBALL TEAM’S

OPENER VS. MSJ POSTPONED

===LUDWIG AT LARGE alert: The Miamisburg War Room sustained substantial damage from high winds on Sunday, Sept. 14. Because of it, this will be my sixth and final blog posting for Monday, Sept. 15. “The Chickster” would like to thank all loyal readers for making “Ludwig At Large” one of the most popular blogs at DaytonDailyNews.com===

Xavier University Club Football Coach Tom (Tower Of) Powers Jr. telephoned me this morning to report that XU’s season-opening game against the College of Mount Saint Joseph Junior Varsity has been postponed because of a power outage at Withrow High School’s stadium in Cincinnati.

The game was originally scheduled for tonight, Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at 7 at Withrow — A.K.A. “The ‘Row.”

Powers is working feverishly with the coaching staff of The Mount to get the game rescheduled.

T.J. Houshmanzadeh answered a question about why the wide receivers weren’t catching passes by saying it wasn’t because he and Chad weren’t getting separation. In other words, they are getting open but their quarterback isn’t getting them the ball. There’s nothing subtle about T.J.’s statement. It points the finger at Carson Palmer. Watching Palmer it’s apparent he’s become cautious and hesitant in the pocket. He needs to just let it loose and trust his pro-bowl receivers to go get the ball. By standing in the pocket like a bronze statue he invites the inevitable sack. If he was a mobile QB he might be able to scramble around and make something happen. But nobody will ever accuse him of being mobile. On those rare occasions he does manage to scramble out of the pocket he’s almost never able to complete the pass. Some QB’s can throw on the run and some can’t. Throw the damn ball Carson!
