Hey, Willie: You’re so ‘Raven’

WILLIE VS. BENGALS?

SAY IT AIN’T SO

It’s almost like it was meant to be — like Willie Anderson was listening to T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

On “Cutdown Day” — Saturday, Aug. 30 — after Anderson was released by the Bengals, Houshmandzadeh said: “He’s going to go to another team and be very successful. I just hope he doesn’t come back and play against us.”

As fate would have it, the “other team” is the Baltimore Ravens, the Bengals’ opening day opponent on Sunday, Sept. 7.

Big Willie will be wearing the Ravens’ purple and white after agreeing to a three-year, $11 million contract that includes a $1.67 million signing bonus on Thursday. It marks the fourth big contract Anderson has signed in his 13-year NFL career.

I’d bet my last dollar that Big Willie will play on Sunday. The Ravens aren’t stuffing his pockets full o’ cash so he can be a sideline statue.

And to think Willie was ready to take less money to stay in Cincinnati. I didn’t see anything that said Baltimore’s offer was incentive-laced. So that’s 3.7 mil per year straight-up? Now who would you trust in terms of player-evaluation expertise — Ozzie Newsome or the combo of Mike Brown and Marvin Lewis? Hmm…

Why couldn’t Marvin Lewis have gone back to Baltimore instead!!

Chick - This say it all: “I’m sorry to the city that I couldn’t do for them what I always dreamed of doing,” Anderson said. “Win a championship and restore pride to that city. That hurt me that I didn’t accomplish that.” — With Mike Brown in charge no Bengal will achieve that dream!!

The sad thing is, Willie won’t get one as a raven either! Good luck to him though! I hope he tears it up this year!

No good will come of this on Sunday. Big Willie’s not letting Geathers anywhere near Flacco, and Rice will have a running lane all day long.

Should we be concerned that Willie knows our entire offensive package? Play calls, audibles, etc. No wonder Ray Lewis and Ed Reed ran up to him in the locker room happily.
