What advice do you have for people who are looking for a job right now?
What advice do you have for people who are looking for a job right now?
HOMER RISSINGER, West Milton: “Don’t give up, and be willing to take a lesser paying job, because it’s easier to get a job if you have a job.”
BRIAN HUNT, Bellbrook: “We’re employers. One of our biggest pet peeves is when we advertise and people respond with terrible grammar, punctuation and spelling. They use texting language, such as ‘u’ for ‘you.’ We don’t even look at those applications.”
LINDA HENDERSON, Dayton: “Just tell them not to give up, to keep trying, to try to be the early bird. Get up, get moving, keep pounding. Perseverance means everything.”
KAREN PIRRELLO, Centerville: “Our daughter’s been looking for a job in interior design for nine months. She has worked very hard networking online, through her university, through friends and family. She’s had great interviews. The companies don’t have openings, but promise they’ll call when they do. They seem to be worried that the economy will fall again.”
NICK DEBARMORE, Dayton: “I’m lucky, because I’m in the military, so I’m kind of set. The military is always an option to consider.”
