Should Ohio require motorcyclists to wear helmets?
Should Ohio require motorcyclists to wear helmets?
TERRY LANDERS, Dayton: “It should be preference or choice. Or based on experience. Newer riders should be required to wear a helmet. You wouldn’t give a truck driver’s license to someone who’s never driven a truck.”
HEATH KLEPINGER, Springfield: “No. I don’t even agree with the seat-belt law. It should be a choice whether I wear a helmet or not. I usually do wear my helmet, but it’s my choice. Sometimes I don’t. As far as new riders go, in Ohio, once you get your endorsement, you have to wear a helmet the first year.”
JOYCE ROARK, Beavercreek: “Yes. It would save lives. I think it’s better to have them on, just in case.”
ED FISHER, Tipp City: “I think that should be up to the individual. I would wear a helmet; I did when I used to ride a motorcycle.”
DEAN DICKEY, Dayton: “No, because I’ll move to a state where they don’t have one.”
ALICE LANDIS, Anoka, Minn.: “I don’t live in Ohio anymore, but I’d say yes. Where I live, they don’t require it, either, if you’re over 18. I think helmets save lives, especially with the information out there now about head trauma and concussions.”
