Do you believe home ownership is still part of the American dream?
In light of record declines in home values, do you believe home ownership is still part of the American dream?
ALEX CARTER, Miami Twp.: “No, because with the economy like it is now, it’s more out of reach. It’s easier to be in a condo or apartment.”
GARY FANCHER, Dayton: “Yes. I believe everyone still wants to achieve the American dream and do their best in life, no matter what the economy is doing. And owning a home is part of that, and I believe it’s still possible to achieve.”
JOE KELL, Miami Twp.: “I never viewed it as part of the American dream. I always felt there were advantages and disadvantages to it. I think the American dream is always choosing whatever is best for you.”
TOM HARTMAN, Kettering: “Definitely. I think that’s just part of being an American — owning your own land and your own home. If you work hard, you should still be able to do it, especially with prices going down.”
JEFF KESTING, Bellbrook: “That’s exactly what it is — it’s a dream. More so now than what it used to be.”
