Can Tea Party candidates win in November general elections?
Tea Party candidates have won a number of big races in Republican primaries. Do you think they can win in November general elections, when Democrats and independents will be in the voter mix?
CAROL WEILAND, Centerville: “The Tea Party’s victories in the primaries indicate how dissatisfied people are with the current situation. And because of that, I think they have a really good chance in the general election.”
RONALD FLETCHER, Dayton: “The Tea Party’s views tend to be a bit too much to the right, almost reactionary in nature. And that would probably alienate the more moderate Republican segment and dilute the traditional Republican vote. So I think the Democrats will benefit in November.”
ELVA DAVIS, Xenia: “I sure hope they have a good chance in November.”
FAY SAMBORSKY, Centerville: “I don’t think so. I tend to see the Tea Party as somewhat radical, and I think the mainstream will assert itself once we get all the voters in the mix.”
KEN LEIBROCK, Centerville: “No. They’re not credible with a broad enough base of more informed voters. So it depends on who votes.”

I am a Tea Party Member. I believe in less taxes and less government. Thats what the Tea Party is all about and thats why not just Libertarians and Republicans have joined but also Independents and Democrats. We all agree on one thing Fiscal Policy. Now we have to keep the Religous Pro Life Family Value Whackos away or they will bring the Tea Party down. We need to keep with candidates like Rand Paul. Not Whackos like Christine Odonnell and Sharon Angle. Less Government not only applies to fiscal issues but also allowing a woman having the right to choose an abortion, letting people keep their guns and allowing the gay and lesbian community to have rights.
