Are 3-D movies worth the higher ticket price?

JESSICA HOLLAND

JESSICA HOLLAND, Huber Heights: “I’ve only seen one movie in 3-D — ‘Avatar.’ I saw it in 2-D, too, and the 3-D was really nice. Movie prices are expensive anyway. I suppose 3-D is worth a few extra dollars.”

MARK LYTLE JR., Springfield: “No. I’ve not seen any 3-D movies, but I honestly don’t see what the big deal is. It’s the same exact movie. It’s not going the be that big until you can bring it into your house. I did see ‘Avatar’ — at my house, not in 3-D.”

EMMIE WENZELL

EMMIE WENZELL, Enon: “I think it was worth the extra price, because the 3-D engulfs the viewer. I saw ‘Avatar’ in 3D, and it really brought out the special effects, which would have been just OK otherwise. The new 3-D also makes it a better HD picture. The image is crisper.”

CARRIE SCHAGEL

CARRIE SCHAGEL, New Lebanon: “I think the 3-D movies are a neat concept, but I’m not willing to pay that price to go see them.”

SARAH OLSEN

SARAH OLSEN, Dayton: “It depends on the movie. I saw ‘Avatar’ in 3-D, and I liked it. It made you feel like you were kind of part of the movie.”

AMANDA ISAAC

AMANDA ISAAC, Springfield: “I don’t think it’s worth the higher ticket price. I saw ‘Avatar’ in 2-D; it might be more interactive in 3-D, but I wouldn’t pay more to have to wear the little glasses. They make me sick; I get kind of motion sickness. I think little kids would enjoy it more in 3-D.”
