Should kids be paid for doing chores?
Should kids be paid for doing chores?
WILL HARPER, Fairborn: “Yes. It teaches them the value of a dollar and helps them get prepared for working when they’re older.”
GRETCHEN LONG, Centerville: “I don’t think so. It’s important for them to contribute to running a household. I think they should receive an allowance, but I don’t think that should be contingent on the work they do. The allowance teaches fiscal responsibility, and chores teach about contributing to the family system.”
SUZANNE CHUVALAS, Vandalia: “No. It’s an expectation that they’ll clean their rooms and pick up after themselves, and they are rewarded in other ways.”
CINDY KOENIG, Wapakoneta: “Yes. It gives them a sense of responsibility, and they learn to understand the value of a dollar.”
AMANDA HAVENS, Washington C.H.: Yes, because they’ll do it more if you’re going to pay them.”
KYLE POTTS, Springfield: “They should be paid weekly, because they like money.”
