Wright State’s Nutter Center celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. What’s the best show or event you’ve seen there?
ALLAN HEARD, Fairborn: “For me, it was probably the Secondhand Serenade concert last year. It was my first concert ever.”
AMANDA GEORGE, Kettering: “Myself, singing the National Anthem before a Bombers game my fifth-grade year. It was cool, because we got to see this girl translating what we were singing in sign language on the big screen.”
JAY SKIDMORE, Troy: “We saw Mercy Me, Amy Grant, Alan Jackson. We also saw Martina McBride with Alan Jackson, and that might’ve been the best. But we’ve seen lots of sportings events there, lots of high-school basketball games.”
MARTHA HAYES, Huber Heights: “I saw ice skating and a black gospel artist there, but I don’t go that often.”
JOHN GEORGE, Kettering: “I’ve only been to concerts there. None stands out because I didn’t really like the way that sound system was set up. Rush was good, but it seems like the sound could’ve been better.”

I’d have to say the WSU championship win in ‘93 because it got us to the D1 NCAA tourney. A couple of Butler wins, Xavier and Michigan State were great, too. ZZ Top, Boston Pops, Garth Brooks ( a lot of Country concerts ), Aerosmith and even Guns N Roses ( long night ). Lot of fun. WSU didn’t do very well but, seeing the great UConn ladies was a treat several years ago ( welcome to Dayton ).

I would have to say Gloria Estefan or Garth Brooks back in 1992. Incredible shows!!

The official opening concert was comprised of Frank Sinatra and Steve and Edy Gorme. How often does someone like Sinatra come to town?!

Phish 12/7/97 Better of the two Phish shows at Nutter. Legendary show among fans and officially released by the band several years ago.

Any Trans Siberian Orchestra concert. They keep getting bigger and better, and are worth putting up with the parking hassles to see.

David Copperfield was the best show I ever saw there. I also enjoyed Cher, when she was there on Valentine’s Day one year.

Wright State beating the eventual Nationa Champion Michigan State. WSU, at the time, had an RPI of around 300—-MSU was ranked fifth in the country. I know they didn’t have Mateen Cleaves, but seeing MSU fans leave before the buzzer sounded, looking stunned, was priceless.

I’m still not happy that Tool cancelled their planned 2001 appearance. Queensryche/Type O Negative was a great show as was symbol-era Prince.

Both of Guns-N-Roses shows in the early 90’s, The Who doing Quadrophenia, Neil Young’s accoustic concert, Brooks & Dunn with Reba, Metallica, AC/DC, and many more. To bad none of those type of acts come to the Nutter Center anymore. I bet when you ask about the 25th anniversary it will be the mostly the same artists already mentioned.
