Does it make sense for the government to mail letters telling us our Census forms are on the way?

Does it make sense for the government to mail letters alerting all U.S. households that they’ll their Census questionnaires are on the way?

LIONEL GARRETT

LIONEL GARRETT, Dayton: “No. That’s duplication of effort. If you’re going to send it out in another week, just send it. Don’t waste the postage.”

MICHAEL WELLBAUM

MICHAEL WELLBAUM, Beavercreek: “Yes. It gives notice that they can expect the Census form in the mail, and if they fill it out and return it, no one will come to their house. And then, if someone comes to your house, you know they’re bogus.”

KAREN MOORE

KAREN MOORE, South Vienna: “No, because we are a nation in debt, and yet they spend whatever money it costs to send out a letter saying you are going to be receiving the Census.”

JOHN BEATTY

JOHN BEATTY, Riverside: “No. I don’t think it’s necessary. People will do what they want to do with the Census, no matter whether they get this letter or not.”

KENNETH BREWER

KENNETH BREWER, Caesarscreek Twp.: “That’s just ridiculous. It serves no purpose. … They feel they have to do something, but they lose sight of what their purpose is — taking the Census.”

I got one… My tax dollars at work… Is this to keep the USPS going or something? Just send the dratted census. Forget the preliminary notices.

Absolute waste of money, but seems to fall in the management style of the current administration of change. Haven’t we had enough change for one millenium? What were we thinking, or I should say were YOU thinking…

It’s an obvious waste of money, just like our stimulus $ that went to China for 2000 manufacturing jobs, and stimulus pd for basketweaver frestivals and drunk mice studies. It only makes sense if you understand that progressives are intentionally misspending our tax $ in order to overwhelm our U.S. economy to make it fail. Once our economy fails, the communists are waiting. They have a plan for us. Obama will probably be the dictator.

It only makes sense if our current administration is leaning towards communism. It’s the only excuse I can think of. Why are they spending money like they are trying to run out of it? Who will catch our govt when it falls? Are they ready and waiting for our govt to fail? Can we stop them?

Does yours say when it is due? I could be hit by a bus, how do I know who will be living in my home on April 1st, until maybe April 1st ( fools! ).

That’s one way to support the US Postal Service. Duh…silly, stupid, inefficient, and wasteful? NO! Not the govermment! Don’t they have to compete with the best of us and the rest of us in the global and local service and retail economy too?

It increase the response rate and eliminates the need to send someone to the house to do a count. A stamp is still cheaper. And people still complain, of course.

Makes no sense at all. Then they ask a question like “How many people are living in your house on April 1st 2010?” Answer the question on March 18th as 4, 2 of them die on the 20th, and that makes the census inaccurate.
