Concealed-carry gun permits are at record-high levels. How do you feel about that?

Concealed-carry gun permits are at record-high levels, and OpenCarry.org is encouraging gun owners to openly carry firearms into establishments such as Starbucks. How do you feel about that?

KEN JETER, Beavercreek: “I haven’t noticed anybody carrying guns in public. I’m not a supporter of concealed weapons, because, unfortunately, human nature is such that we don’t have the discipline to use other means of defense. It becomes the defense of choice, and it is unforgiving. When we have the choice to stay or run, because we have a weapon, we become brave.”

DALE SHANE, Martinsville: “I don’t believe anybody should be carrying a gun outside their house except the police. But I am a firm believer in the right to bear arms.”

I carry because the “other elements” carry too. People shouldn’t worry about the legal card carrying members. They should worry about the ones who can’t and don’t get a permit because they will be the ones to pull a gun on you when they rob you. Just hope that a person with a CCW is armed and will come to your rescue when you need them. Let’s level the playing field by allowing CCW to carry everywhere…

Men who “carry” are ONLY wearing their manhood on their side obviously unhappy with what God gave them. The odds of “being robbed” are slim and, frankly stupid, I want you NO WHERE around if I can’t beat the odds. This ISN’T Tombstone. Geez, ONLY in America… You people LOOK FOOLISH to regular people. Yes, I mean to imply YOU’RE IRREGULAR.

Don’t worry Happy, no one is going to come to your aid if you can’t “beat the odds”. Those who carry are only going to protect them and theirs if the need arises. Go on with your bad self and pretend that car jackings and muggings only occur where you are not.

As a domestic violence victim, police are minutes away when seconds matter. A restraining order is a joke they tell after they take pictures and clean up my body. I love all the human nature comments/feelings. I shows just how much we hate and distrust one another as citizens and fellow humans.

Some people have a short fuse and are dying for an excuse to use their gun. Then you have the moron who had his concealed weapon in a sportsbar/restaraunt and shot himself. Wow…

The guy at Frickers did not shoot himself, he shot his girlfriend, and a blackberry stopped the bullet. He was a moron for many reasons. It is a felony to carry in a restaurant that serves liquor. He did not have the weapon in a holster. He was carrying a .32, which is inadequate, proved by the fact that a blackberry stopped the bullet. Never carry less than a 9mm. He has now joined the ranks of non-liscenced sheeple, which is good.

It makes me happy to know that the criminals are not the only ones armed. I wonder what “Happy” thinks about women who carry?

I’m not a real big fan of open carry. It makes some people nervous and some are just scared of guns. But contrary to popular Belief”there will be blood in the streets”,its not so. The numbers of CONCEALED CARRY licenses now number over 200,000 in Ohio since the law took affect in 1994 and is still growing. We are trained as required by the state and have had as much of our background checked by BCI and FBI and Sherrif Dept as Police Officers or Brinks employees. We just are exercising our second amendment right. I have no desire to hurt anyone, but I will defend myself if cornered.

The thing I don’t like about open carry is say, someone who’s not been properly trained has his firearm at the ready and…someone takes it from him and uses it on the innocent. Open carry is permitted without prerequisite training, unlike CCW, which I fully support. And, most cops will write an ‘inciting panic’ offense to those who sport their guns as a ‘show all’ even though it’s ‘not’ against the law to carry in the open. Ask your friendly neighborhood officer before you do it in a public place. Go legal, carry concealed.

Actually, the code most likely used would be ORC 2917.11-Disorderly Conduct, unless you are really causing a panic. Also keep in mind, while open carry is legal, it is only in PUBLIC places, private property is not included. The property owner has the right to ask you to keep it in your car, open carried or concealed..

I am glad to know that many law abiding citizens are carrying guns legally, since criminals who carry guns do so illegally.

I have a permit, and have carried into Starbucks many, many times without anyone knowing. The key word to me is “concealed”. If you go to the effort to get a Concealed carry permit, why blatantly display the weapon?

CCW class at Miami Valley Shooting Grounds for $75; CCW licence for $67; good-enough gun $300; self [NOT YOUR] defense is priceless. Carjackers and robbers beware out there.

Open carry is a bad idea, in my opinion. It is an invitation for some unstable individual to steal your weapon, and do God-knows-what to you and others around you. I support CCW, although I do not have a permit, nor do I carry. I’m reassured by the knowledge that criminals in Ohio have to think twice before brandishing a weapon in crowded places. Perhaps someone with a permit is right behind them.. how would they know? I’m proud of my fellow citizens who take some of the responsibility for their own safety into their own hands.
