The U.S. Navy plans to start allowing women to serve on submarines. Is that a crazy idea, or is it about time?

LOWELL JOHNSON, Franklin: “I think it’s a crazy idea. It’s too confining to put men and women together in a sub. I think they could do OK in the job, but I don’t think it would be a good idea.”

Is it a good idea for men to serve? Then why do you have to ask this question?

As a retired Navy Submariner I can honestly say it is a bad Idea the quarters are to close, no room fo seperate heads not to mention the plumbing problems, such could never work on a fast attack and is just not feasiable in the Submarine force at all.

I agree, shipmate. These folks saying, “It’s about time.” have no stinking clue. guess they’d have no problem with ‘em serving IN combat, too. Idiots…

This question might get some more valid responses if asked in a town that hosts a sub base. “Civilians”, sheesh! Can’t even tell me which is port and which is starboard…
