Is Drew Carey a bore on ‘Price is Right’, Bob Barker thinks so

Cleveland native Drew Carey may be a stand up comedian, but Bob Barker doesn’t find him all that entertaining.

ddn1101mimi.JPG
Does the Price is Right need Mimi from “The Drew Carey Show.”

The former “Price is Right” host humanely slammed his replacement for a TMZ cameraman recently. See clip here.

“I tried to make the show really exciting, and he doesn’t do that,” Barker said when asked what he thought about Carey. “He just plays the games.”

Ooooooh “Plinko.” Bob B. “Let ‘em Roll.”

Price is Right is a lot different under Carey than Barker, but is it fair to call it boring?

Maybe they need to bring on Mimi Bobeck as a co-host.

And Bob thinks he was lively? Drew’s doing just fine from what I’ve seen.

I agree with Bob Barker-although I was not a great fan of his the last 5 years he was host. Just goes to show that without a script, Drew is no more entertaining than the rest of us!

By you said it Bob!

I am a Bob Barker fan from way back (Truth or Consequences) and could easily be drawn in to watching The Price Is Right weekdays when Bob was hosting. Bob is right, as Drew seems to be merely playing the games instead of having a lot of fun interacting with the audience. Perhaps over time, he’ll loosen up and get better, but he has a ways to go to be as good as Bob on that show.

I certainly don’t watch the Price is Right just to be entertained by Drew Carey. The host is just window dressing. To me the show is about the contestants and the prize games they play. To me, the show would be just as much fun to watch if the host was Abe Vigoda.

Drew probably won’t get many sexual harassment charges either like Bob.

I beg to differ with Bob. Drew Carey is hilarious, and he does a great job hosting the show. I’ve watched TPIR since 1979, and they couldn’t have picked a better guy to pass Bob’s torch on to.

I loved Bob but Drew is doing pretty good. He makes really funny under his breathe comments that most people don’t even catch. Thya also have been bringing on guest stars in the showcases! Like Buzz Aldrin, The Harlem Globe Trotters and Carl Edwards!

And just how did Bob Barker make it interesting? I guess flirting with all the women, having affairs & sex charges is what he calls interesting. I wouldn’t jump up & down for either host. Drew has a different kind of humor that you either like or you don’t. Guess Bobby boy is in the “don’t like” group.

They should give Mel Gibson a shot at hosting the show. That might liven things up a bit.

I think Drew is way more exciting to bob. He interacts with the contestants and treats them like a neighbor. Bob acted like he didn’t want to touch, hug or anything of that nature. That was also true to his co workers it seemed.

A recent retiree and not really into soaps I find TPIR with Drew Carey lively, entertaining and fun to watch. I never did like Bob Barker and liked him even less (if possible) when all his problems came to light.

I would have expected a classier response from Bob. They are two totally different types of hosts and shouldn’t be compared. I used to like Bob better but have gotten used to Drew and do think he is nicer and warmer to his contestants than Bob was. And, Drew showed Bob a lot of respect by continuing the tradition of asking viewers to spay and neuter their animals. I think Bob is afraid the hero worshipping is going away and had to get a dig in. Shame on you, Bob.

Bob Barker was a fossil in 1990…watching paint dry was more interesting. Drew has energy and the people love him. Seeing Bob on stage was like watching an old person eat peas.

Bob was gr8 and 2 replace him with a dry guy like Drew from the mistake by the lake…..a total shame. BORRRIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!! I can’t change the channel faster unless 1 of the ladies running down the isle is large breasted!!

I liked Bob Barker, but he was getting old and it was time for him to step aside and let some fresh blood take over. At first I didn’t like Drew Carey, but now I like the way he interacts not only with the contestants and audience, but also the models and Rich Fields. He recognizes them every day and I think there is something to be said for that. Bob couldn’t have cared less as long as he was the “star of the show”

Drew is great, he’s not worrying about being the star of the show like Bob did! He shows respect to his workers as well as the audience and contestants.

Bob Barker has yrs. and yrs. of practice this type of show. Has Drew? I think he’s doing a great job and shame on Bob Barker. He is as bad as Adam Lambert slamming Susan Boyle. Sounds like a jealousy thing to me.

Is Bob Barker nuts? He was the most stiff boring host I’ve ever seen! Drew gets excited and jumps and up and down with the contestants and acts crazy just like they do. He’s a hoot to watch!

Drew is sooo much better then bob. bob was too old and very boring. Atleast drew calls the girls by their names, and treats them like ppl! Bob must have forgot to take his meds the day he said this, the show is MUCH better now

Bob had chemistry with the models. I enjoyed his eye twinkle and sincerity. Also, his passion for animal rights shined— Drew seems to just mouth the words. Bob has a lock on the “animal magnetism” department. Maybe Mimi could help Drew.

Ol’ Bob must be missing the days of hitting on the staff and narrowly avoiding harassment suits. Drew is doing great. Bob you should have kept your mouth shut because no one would have begrudged your spending your retirement days in bliss. Now we know you are just a bitchy old man.

The few times I have watched the show recently, Drew comes across to me as if he doesn’t enjoy doing the show. He is just going through the motions.

If Bob wanted a more lively host, he should have had himself cloned and neutered (just to keep the ladies safe), and have Bob2.0 take over. Otherwise, two different people from two different career tracks with different things to add to the show. I guess Bob could have said worst and in a less senior manner.

I agree with Bob Barker about the state of ‘The Price Is Right’! Barker had fun hosting that show and did a marvelous job! He made the show fun and exciting to watch in his 35 years as emcee! I do not dislike Drew Carey! Carey is good in his own right, but just does not seem to have that same fire and pizazz that Barker had!
