Can show survive as “One and a Half Men?’

“One and a Half Men” doesn’t have the same ring does it?

It looks like troubled star Charlie Sheen wants out of the hit CBS show “Two and a Half Men.”

The accused woman beater is tired of the grind of a weekly show and wants to focus on movie roles, sources tell the AP.

The rumors haven’t been confirmed.

Sheen has a role in the upcoming movie “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” a sequel to the 1987 film “Wall Street” in which he starred.

Last year, CBS renewed “Two and Half Men” through the 2011-12 season, but Sheen’s contract is up at the end of the current season.

Sure, everyone likes Alan Harper and his kid Jake, but what will the show be without crazy, drunk uncle Charlie. I am thinking boring.

What do you think? Could the show go on with out Sheen? And what is going to happen to Jon Cryer? I smell “Pretty in Pink 2: Duckie’s Revenge.”

What an arrogant selfish jerk ! He does make the show but how dare he not consider his co-stars and all other employees involved in making the show !? And to say it’s to make movies- who would want to take the risk? He should concentrate on all his children.

Without his character, there is no show. But I know sitcoms actors put in a lot of long days and when you’re not used to that, it can take a toll on you. Also, screen actors are not necessarily accustomed to working in front of a live audience. That’s a whole different dynamic, and some actors just never adjust. That said, I think this show pushed the envelope, and broke new ground for sitcom writers. Hollywood has gotten really lazy over the years, and this show broke some molds. Hopefully the trend will continue.

It takes 2 1/2 men to make this show, and each one is great. Without Charlie though, it just wouldn’t be the same. I have learned so much from Charlie- how to treat women, how to treat your family, and how to act when you drink. I find Charlie very close to someone I respect and admire, my mentor- Homer Simpson!

@Dave - “Two-and-a-Half Men” is not filmed in front of a live audience. Where did you get that?

Unfortunately, the show was going downhill before this happened. Charlie engaged is not Charlie. Allen is not funny with a girlfriend. And Jake is no longer funny, just annoying.

Hey vest-“Two and a Half Men” is taped in front of a live audience. I’ve been to two tapings. Do a little research before you go correcting people.

With the show already in syndication while still holding the #1 ratings; I don’t think any of us need to be concerned about their well being. Life goes on.

I concur with Steve. 2.5 Men is taped live. Granted, not every shot you see on TV was in front of a live audience, though. They shoot for several days during the week, and then bring in the live audience for what they tape on Fridays. It’s on the DVD sets. However, Charlie Sheen leaving the show would be like when Ron Howard left Happy Days. It just wouldn’t be the same, and in my opinion, a pretty lame way to go. Maybe Sheen is just toying with the studio to try to get more money for the final season. Just a thought.
