Bill Maher: Obama should punch area congressman in the face

It’s nice that he’s calm, but President Obama needs to get tough and literally start smacking his rivals around, comedian Bill Maher said on “The David Letterman Show” Thursday, Nov. 5.

Maher said Obama gives great speeches, but so did Muhammad Ali.

“It helped that every once in a while he (Ali) punched somebody in the face. And that’s what I would like this president to do, punch somebody in the face,” Maher said. “Take a swing at John Boehner… Stop listening to these crazies. Stop placating them. “

Boehner, R-West Chester, is house minority leader. He represents a portion of the Miami Valley.

The joke on Boehner and Obama drew big laugh from the studio audience. What do you think?

I’d do more than punch him, if I had the opportunity. Boehner is the kind of conservative idiot that makes me ashamed to say I’m an American.

Someone needs to put the smackdown on Pelosi and Reid. They keep pushing policies that will cost the average person more in taxes.

Would have to he a draw. Boehner would be scared to be hit in that tan movie star pretty boy face of his, and would be too busy hiding behind the gloves to throw a punch while Maher would exhaust himself trying to scratch and claw Boehner’s eyes out while squealing like a giddy little school girl. Would be comical to watch though.

More in taxes, but taxes go to protecting you from harm abroad (the military) and at home (police, firefighters, etc), educating children, preserving roads/transportation, etc. These “new” taxes are to stem the huge shedding of jobs in the public sector, free us from energy dependence on the Middle East (oh, for America to be a producer rather than a consumer again…), and provide you, loved ones, and neighbors health care. (PS: we already have socialized health care. it’s called medicare, medicaid, and veteran’s health. and interestingly, the citizens that are in these programs have the highest ratings of patient satisfaction.)

It is unfortunate that so many hate this country so much that they just can’t stand to hear (let alone understand) the opposite side. Maher is a supporter of legalizing prostitution, racial profiling, and opposes Christian values. Plus, not much of a comedian. Enough said.

I agree with Willie. Maher is a total liberal idiot. He just says that kind of crap for the publicity. This administration can’t take criticism. Any opposing viewpoint is “racist”. It was always open season during the previous administration though. Hypocrites.

I’m tired of Bill Maher. Can I punch him? Just once, in the mouth. That’s all I ask. On a more serious note, the increasing level of rhetoric from both sides leads me to believe it’s time to seriously start thinking about dividing this thing up peacefully before we start shooting each other.

Imagine the uproar if Rush Limbaugh said such a thing. And as for “veterans care” (ie, Tricare), my satisfaction with it is shaky. I have been turned away from a medical practice owing to the poor reimbursement rate of Tricare…which most people, including servicemembers, don’t realize is directly tied to Medicare. If Medicare is altered, so also is Tricare. Military benefits are eroding.

Why should we pay any attention to Bill MIndless. NO ONE watches his show. Which is why he has to do Letterman and Leno. Heck if you ask 1000 people, they would say WHAT he still has a show. He is a joke. Not a funny one at that.

Bill Maher was a standup comedian and not a very good one at that. Then he morphed into social and political commentary which is comical in and of itself. Maher should read his own ridiculous words and then punch himself in the face.

By Steve

I don’t know Bill Maher however even though it is comedy I think we should be more civilized in this country to even suggest that our President would lower his image to the point of punching someone like a child in grade school. Where has our society gone that even in fun that a setting President the most powerful man in the world would lower himself to such a level. Even though we may not like the president or John Boehner. His office should be kept in the highest form of professionalism. Our President’s office lost enough creditability when Bill Clinton held the position we don’t need another president to lower himself to Bill’s level. I am not a prude however I just believe that America is the greatest country in the world and we need maintain the respect that it was built on by our for fathers.

It is nice to live in a country that allows such disrespect and ignorance as displayed by Bill Maher to even be allowed on TV - cable or not. IF any one of these leftist punk celebrities were held to the same standard as they do the right, they would be dethroned in a minute. Go suck a sour lemon Bill, at least it would give you a reason for that face.

Bill Maher must be one of the most unhappy people on the face of this great planet. He must be one of the most miserable idiots to have ever graced the airwaves. Bill Maher should be strapped down and sucker-punched by every conservative in the country. Bill Maher should have a mockumentary made about the crap he spews on television. Bill Maher should be deported. Ah, yes, in a world that he envisions this would all happen. BUT- we live in a free country- in SPITE of Bill and B. Hussein-so Billy boy, just suck it up and get over yourself already …most of America has.

The worst unemployment since 1983 (promised would not go above 8 percent), tax cheats writing our tax laws, generational theft, and now a bill that has nothing to do with health care reform, but has 3,425 mandates and will tax the middle class and small businesses. Not to mention rationed health care. If the plan is so good, why is Pelosi and Congress exempt? Can you say elitist. Our tax money goes for her Botox and private jets. Liars and hypocrites. How’s that hope and change working out for you. Oh, and great job with the Swine flu vaccines!

Boehner is worthless. His only concerns are what his lobbyist buddies in the health care and insurance industry feed him. He will support the GOP at the expense of the people of Ohio. Perhaps every citizen should take a swing at him.

Bill is rich and you are not(or if you are one of the few worth more than $10 million, he is more rich). That is funny. Republican leaders believe in making the rich more wealthy and keeping the impoverished poor. So if you side with Republicans, you are not represented. If you hate Bill, he still is more rich than you. lol.

The GOP sheds tears due to overwhelming evidence that their conservative ideology is a failure. It represents a narrow and dysfunctional view. And, excludes a majority of Americans. Simple facts; Bush and his crony’s were failures. Reagan and his ideology are both outdated and dead. The evangelicals and neocons were anti-american in thinking and deeds. Boehner is a failure.

It is interesting when a post references Maher and Letterman in some cynical fashion related to “moral clarity”. The GOP lacks both “morals” and “clarity”. Considering the past criminals and sexual deviants that existed in the GOP over the last eight year span of the Bush debacle; Foley, Sanford, Ensign, Craig and others. Let alone, professed “conservatives” like Ted Haggard - The gay sex and meth evangelical. Limbaugh - the drug addict. And, others. Then there are the criminal activities of Ted Stevens, Tom Delay and others. So, the “morality” or “moral character” really does not exist in the GOP. Not to say that the Dems are all Honest or moral. The Dems just don’t use false morality as a method of winning elections as much as the GOP tends to embrace the evangelicals when they lack any morality. Of course, the C-street sect, mainly embraced by GOP members of congress, consider morality and laws only for the lower class of our country. (that would be the middle and lower income brackets)
