Beyonce finally comments on kooky Kanye: He was standing up for art, but noooooo
Beyonce has finally commented on the microphone snatch felt round the world.
The “Single Ladies” singer told “O: The Oprah Magazine” editor Gayle King she was horrified when Kanye West took to the stage, grabbed the mic and stole country/pop singer Taylor Swift’s spotlight during the 2009 MTV’s Video Music Awards.
West announced that he thought Beyonce should have won the award for Best Female Video instead of Swift.
According to MTV.com, Beyonce told King at Billboard magazine’s annual Women in Music event that said she understood West’s intention.
“I knew he was standing up for art; and he told me before, when they said the nominees, he’s like, ‘You have this award,’” Beyonce said according to MTV. “And when they didn’t call my name he was, like, completely shocked. And when he walked on the stage, I was like, ‘No, no, no!’ and then he spoke, and I was like, ‘Oh, no, no, no!’”
What does art have to do with award shows anyway?
Beyonce proved herself a classy dame the night of the MTV award ceremony. SHe allowed Swift to complete the acceptance speech West interrupted.

That is a bunch of bull. So does this mean Taylor’s video isn’t art? It is art to me. More so than Beyonce’s video. Apparently more others think so also or Taylor wouldn’t have won. Kanye gets involved in EVERYTHING. Was it really a surprise that this happened? I feel sorry for Taylor Swift that her time in the spotlight had to be ruined by some crazy loon. I’m having a hard time with the whole “racist” slant people are putting on this. While Kanye seems to have successfully marketed his disdain for white culture, this particular incident seemed to be more about his personal opinion about Beyonce. Yes, he was way out of line expressing his personal opinion at the expense of someone else. He embarrassed Taylor and probably embarrassed a lot of other people both black and white. Heck, even the most politically powerful black man in the world called him a “jack@ss” (though I personally think of Kayne as more of a “jackbag”). I wonder if Kanye will chalk this up as a learning experience and keep his yap shut for a while. I doubt it. Egomaniacs like himself have a hard time staying quiet (I gotta be heard - The world needs my opinion.). Someone needs to tell Beyonce that she may need to think before she speaks. Both ladies are good entertainers in their respective field, and I like both of them. I feel that more work went into Taylor’s video, but that doesn’t mean that Beyonce didn’t work just as hard. @American made. I missed what you’re point was regarding Kanye’s comment about @ Bush after Hurricane Katrina. It’s called ‘Freedom of Speech”. To say what we’re thinking in America. I can’t see into Kanye’s soul, so I don’t know if he is racist. It certainly appears so…but the main thing to remember is that he did this after swilling huge amounts of cognac and brandy from the bottle. He’s a drunk. He’s an admitted domestic abuser. I thought of her as being very classy when she let Taylor have her spot and get her thank you’ in but this seems like now she’s standing up for the guy or at least implying that her video was Art. I think Kayne’s so called career should be over and the American public should see to that. Everyone has the right to their opinion but does not have the right to grab the microphone from anyone be it black or white!
