It is just too much. Next thing you know, people will say he is alive and they saw him at Frisch’s in Hamilton. Let him rest in peace.

I was at work and I was just gonna take a peek at MSNBC or CNN. The internet was painfully slow causing many glitches.I tuned in about the time that Usher broke up after his performance. I kept checking in and when “We Are The World” finished I thought it was done. Then there was more speeches from the family. I was not moved until Paris came forth. That really got to me. I’m hoping that child and her brothers are taught how to read people and sense who loves them for themselves and not what they have. They need some prayers.

Let MJ rest in peace, and let us all get back to work. Death is the natural progression of things, and we are all going to take this trip. MJ was a good entertainer, and, well, move on to the next thing..

He was a very talented person. His music will be missed, but the ceremony was a circus. We have had people much more important than him die and not get the pomp and circumstance. What a waste of tax payers money.

He did not fight in a war, he did not save anyone from a burning building-he was a talented performer who was a lost soul! It is such a tragedy what some base as importance. Our values and morals as a society are lacking. We need to honor those who truly deserve it and I doubt it lies in celebrities.

The tribute was fine, with one exception: Why did Mariah Carey feel compelled to wear such a low-cut gown to a memorial service? Did she think she was in Vegas? A totally inappropriate outfit.

This past year the town I live in lost a young man to the war in Iraq. During his funeral, the streets were lined with people holding the American flag to pay their last respects to this soldier. There were no celebrities on hand, no major entertainment taking place. Our country needs to remember why people like MJ had the life he did. Others have made the greatest sacrifice of all. We need to get our priorities straight.

I agree with Dave…it was a circus! Something more dignified and simple would have sufficed. And to be on national tv for that long of a time slot? Give me a break! The man was NOT God! Granted, I liked his music too, but this was way to much and a waste of money!

Over the top. Where’s the memorial service for Robert McNamara? Jackson was a sick, troubled person and our attention to this shows how shallow we all are.

I thought it was a wonderful tribute to a man known and loved by many internationally. Yes, the men and women we have lost in war are important too and their communities often put their names and an article in the paper when they pass as they should. Michael’s memorial and the grand scale of it simply reflects a broader communities awareness of him, I do believe it makes him or his death any more important than anyone elses. After reading some of the comments posted here, I think some of you might feel ashamed of yourselves if you came back and reread them. On second thought you probably wouldn’t, our society does not promote that emotion anymore, this generation is all about me and what I wan’t or think. So sad.

I personally liked some of the older stuff he performed. After all, he was a “performer”. Did he write his songs, do his own choreography, etc. He was strictly “Hollywood” through and through. It was a sad commentary on our times that people were charged to attend the memorial service. Even in death, he was used to make his entourage more money. My daughter had four tickets to his London concert and she was told she could trade them for “gold” tickets. (I’m sure for a charge.) I’m sure he would understand, as a lot of him was manufactured for publicity. I personally think that those that “cared” for him would be better offering up a Prayer to Almighty God, in his behalf!

Michael meant a lot to a lot of people, mainly entertainers. I saw the service (the parts I did see, anyway) as their goodbye to him. Usher, Beyonce, etc. EVERYONE in the music says they were influenced by Michael. The service was fine. People would’ve complained regardless. Now we just need to get through the whole “where will be be buried?!” frenzy. And the “what was the cause of death?!” frenzy. And the “who’s the mother of those kids?” frenzy. And the … Eventually it will all die down. I wish everything wasn’t being exploited … but like I said, people would complain because they DIDN’T know these things.

He may have not been a soldier or a politician but he was a son, brother, uncle and a cousin. The tribute to him was appropriate…the man was ahead of his time, loved his family, friends and fans. He GAVE so much to all different charities. Yes, he was a troubled soul. But when you have that much pressure from society on you……..and so many accusations which were NEVER proven……something has to give. He was a man and NOT a GOD but had kindness, gentleness and innocence. Too bad he will not know the love that was shown to him after his death. Where were all these people when he needed them most?

To Glenda, Sharpton was right. Everything is about color in this country. Read what all the haters are saying. There was a blog well hidden that I tapped into that told about the young kid, who is now an adult, said that he was not molested, that his father made him do and say those things. It is all about the money. As for him being ashamed of his race, not true. Ms. Tyson told what I has suspected all along, the white glove was designed to cover up the skin disease that he had and had started to be seen. My father had the same thing. No one said anything when the media went on and on about the druggie Anna Nichole Smith. So all you BIGOTED haters, just SHUT UP!!

MJ was a fruit cake. He spent his whole life trying to look like Latoya Jackson and Diana Ross. He was never proven guilty of being a Pedofile, but always settled out of court.. If he were truley innocent, dont you think he would have proven his innocense? He paid an estimated 25 mil to get out of court on 1 case. What did he do for our troops? What did he do for the starving children? What did he do for the 9/11 victims? what did he do for Katrina victims? The List can go on and on.. Brad Pitt, Harry Conic, Micheal Jordan, and many other all do more than he did. He was a talented singer, entertainer, and dancer. Thats it.. We shouldnt waste taxpayers money on memorials, stamps, museums ect.. Let his fans shell out the money for that. Save the taxpayers money for more important things. I feel sorry of the California Government, and taxpayers for having to foot the bill for this gaudy, high priced publisity stunt of a funeral! get on to more important things!

The “homegoing” was beautiful. It was in very good taste and everyone behaved themselves as they should have. First off Thriller, the microphone was not shoved in his daughters face. Marlon stated that Janet was going to speak and Paris wanted to speak instead. Matter of fact, the move surprised everyone, even the family. In spite of the obstacles that Michael had to deal with and unfortunately the family will be dealing with for a long time to come, Michael Jackson was the greatest entertainer of all time. We can’t take that away from him. I haven’t seen anyone else yet that can top him. Everybody knows Michael Jackson in some kind of way. I felt it was in poor taste while the services were going on, that some of the commentators were speaking about the negative things that had gone on in his life. We along with his family were celebrating his life and that should have been left out. In spite of how some people felt about him, he was still a human being. He was never found guilty of the allegations. We are so quick to judge. Stop doing that. People did not walk in Michael’s shoes so we truly don’t know what that man was going through. All that matters is the good that man was doing during his life. His daughter did not look at him as an entertainer. She look at him as her father and she said, he was the best father in the world. That is good enough for me. Rest in peace Michael and just like Marlon said, maybe people will finally leave you alone.

Ohgodno, may i ask you a couple of questions if you don’t mind? Why do you feel it was a circus? What went on yesterday is what most people do at a funeral. They speak and sing. I agree that most people may not have the star power there but it was a funeral. Second question, do you no something we don’t know? He was never found guilty of the allegations. How does that make him a pedophile? Please stop judging. Only God can do that, not us.

How many people do you know are in the Guiness book of World Records for the amount of moneys raised for charities? Give Michael his proper respects for who he was and what he stood for. God put him on this Earth for a purpose and he achieved that and much more. No he wasn’t perfect and yes he misjudged how warped and unjust society can be. But as your mother probably told you..you can’t please everybody. But Michael Jackson did his best to please his fans and anyone else who appreciated his talents on and off the stage-world wide. Even Elvis didn’t do that. Oh! by the way Elvis was a drug addict…and he wasn’t just taking sleeping pills…oh, and didn’t he date a 16 yr. old little girl? Humm! Don’t judge..just appreciate..what you’ve witnessed from greatness.

The way the world and this forum is treating him, the next thing you know, his image will be left on the piece of burial linen layed over his body and it will become the next Shroud of Turin. COME ONNNNNNN… you cant be guilty, if you bought your way out of trouble.. are you people that blind? Dont you think the Jacksons made arrangements for payment to have the funeral televised? They probably already have contracts with the Star and others to make sure hes been resurrected too. Why dont you idolize the officer that stopped a serial killer, or the detective that stopped a terrorisist, or the soldiers that gave you the freedoms you have. Most of these people get buried unnoticed. These are the people you should look up to, not an entertainer!

Elvis was indeed a drug addict. BUT-what do you think Michael Jackson was? How do you explain all the drugs taken from his home after he died? And just how did he get them? We’ll see when the toxicology reports are released, won’t we? It was more than just sleeping pills they confiscated. Try an anesthesia agent that they use to knock you out for surgery. Diprivan and it’s given by I.V. Last time I checked, you can’t buy that over the counter. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck…

You know Michael was a generous, loving, genious, HUMAN BEING! I think that was represented well in the service yesterday. I cried almost throughout. Listen to his lyrics with a OPEN HEART AND MIND and you will understand his message was about LOVE, UNDERSTANDING, COMPASSION, AND PATIENCE. From reading these comments- obviously something we need in this country! Rest peacefully MJ. You will always be the King! So sad it took death for so many people to remember that.

I thought the memorial was really nice, but agree it was over the top! Then today I hear they want donations to be given to help cover the cost. If he was worth so much they should spend it before asking for money. I do think Sharpton was there to give another one of his “Race” speeches! Jackson wasn’t even black anymore if Al hadn’t noticed. It is sad to think he got and is still getting more coverage than ex-presidents or anyone else has ever gotten. He got into drugs like so many intertainers which is sad but in reality he killed himself just like Elvis did. We need to quit worshiping these people. We as fans shouldn’t don’t go overboard for an actor or singer. They are just like us, just human’s! We need to try to make ourselves better people. Let’s remember Michael’s tour wasn’t even in the USA! Enough is enough. Let’s get ready to move on to the next big thing to happen. I bet the Anthony family, the senator that cheated on his wife, and other stories that were all over the news was thrilled someone finally took the attention off of them for a while. I personally was upset that Farrah Fawcett lost her battle with cancer. It was like she never existed after Jackson died. She gave hope to a lot of people who have cancer, but was ignored for her message of hope. This country is so hung up on race and I guess as long as Al and Jessee are alive they will still be preaching about race. My God we have a black man in the White House. I think that proves racism isn’t as bad as it was in the past. Can’t we all just get along?? I think Michael did a lot of good and was evidently a good Dad. I feel so sorry for his three kids. These kids will be fought for over because of the money they will be worth. I can’t wait until the real cause of death come out and we find out what happened. We will find out he was just another drug user that finally took too much and lost his life. I hope the family takes this message of drug abuse and uses it to help educate kids. There hasn’t been a campaign about saying “NO” to drugs since Nancy Reagan. Let’s use his death for something useful and help this country get education about drug abuse. I think everyone will remember Michael the rest of their lives so let’s take this time to help others not worship him for how he lived his life. Thanks for letting me tell how I feel!

I thought it was a very moving tribute and done in good taste. I did cry when his brother Jermaine sang the song “Smile” which was MJ’s favorite song and also when several people on stage sang the song “We Are The World”. It was hard to keep the tears back then. MJ was a phenomenal entertainer and a kind and gentle soul. Yes, of course, he had flaws just as all of us do here on earth, however, we should focus on his contributions and not his imperfections. I pray that he rests in peace. He deserves that. Thank you kindly.

The memorial was ok. There were some nice things said about him. He was an awesome entertainer that entertained us for the last 40 years! AS far as the allegations go, I don’t know about you but no amount of money would shut me up if one of my children were touched! Like several others have mentioned no matter some of the things that he did or didn’t do he was still a father, son, brother and uncle that is being greived by his family. I always have and always will continue to listen to his music. It’ll all die down eventually. He was not however anyone to be worshipped, he was the King of Pop not the King of Kings!

So many of you posters seem to want to put yourself up on a pedestal, and put others down. Does this make you feel that you are superior or too smart to grieve and remember someone or simply to love someone other than yourself! The memorial service was very nice & befitting the greatest entertainer (recording artist)that has ever lived. No matter what you say, your words or “sticks & stones” cannot diminish his accomplishments. So please…get over yourself, and let others who want to remember Michael for all the good do so without all the nasty remarks from you haters! I didn’t get to watch it all just bits and pieces of it. People didn’t let him have a life when he was alive and now they aren’t going to since he was gone. Black or White or whatever he was a great entertainer. I will miss his songs. He never had any peice in life. can’t you let him rest in peace? Only god know and him what he did or didn’t do. The second mother that got all the money she was only after money. Why would you send your child to stay there without her knowing he had been accused once. Come on get a life. She was just out for money and got it. I don’t know if he did or didn’t and i don’t care. I am not juding him. And thier is more folks in life that does this and gets away with it but it ain’t made so big casue they don’t have big bucks like he did. So they went after him. Let the man rest in peace and get off his back. And people that have money do have big funerals and telivese them. This is a new day and age not 70 years ago. Regan did have air space and time for his funeral. If you got the money and thats what you want then that is fine. I don’t believe that his funeal was paid by taxpayers. and if his fans wanted to pay for tickets to go to his memorial than so be it. Get over it and judge yourself instead of someone else. that is what is wrong with this wrold now. They have forgotten freedom and god and what this country is about. I am proud of our people in the serives that lay thier lives on the lines for us. And those of you that say he didn;t serve well thier is other actors that have never served our country either and down our serviceman and the war that they go and lay thier lives on for out country so why are you judging him. go get a life. if you had the money and your family wanted a big service like that you could have it also. And some service men do get big funeral and are praised and mettioned and honored. It is the gurards that go and honor them at their funerals, but some stupid people put them down. they served in our wars. It is a disgrace to any service man or women that has lost thier lives or served for our freedom for you all to act like jerks………. so leave it lay. Rest in peace Micheal Jackson. Maybe now you can find happiness and no longer be put down…………..

According to the DDN (7/5/09) MJ sold 750 million albums and Elvis sold 1.3 billion albums…and that has nothing to do with who is white or black. Felt sorry for the children who were put on display, as if they haven’t been through enough already…sad.

I think it is disgusting to honor a perverted weird pedophile like Jackson in such a way. The monster is dead. The world’s children are sleep safer tonight. Good riddance

To long of a service and as usual the good ole Rev Al Sharpton had to drag race in again everytime he opened his mouth, instead of it being a memorial service.

Stop shouting in Caps you arogant self centered idiot. MJ by any other name would still clearly meet the profile of a pediphile as well as a great entertainer. Why do either profiles require an Egyptian burial?

To MJ Fan: No Elvis was not talked about this way because he was not considered a child molester. But either you were not around or something there was alot of talk about him using drugs and having enablers around him. It was in every gossip magazine and several books written by people around him, and in the news.

I think what some people don’t understand is that Michael Jackson did serve his country. He sacrificed his normal existance to provide happiness to people in small doses. You could sit down and take a break from a stressful day and escape into a song for a few minutes. He worked for many charities and inspired many people. I gaurantee you that no one posting on here, including me, has a clue about what is true or what is false about him. All I know is, hearing many of his songs conjures up memories of great times in my life. That’s all I need to know.

I believe that Michael Jackson’s family should have had a memorial service for their loved one and not opened it to the public. The fans should have stayed home.

What a shame this is even here. He was an entertainer. If only people would mourn the loss of our soldiers, past a present, like they do an entertainer our country would be a lot better. Yes I fondly remember Michael Jackson, but I don’t care that he has passed as he did NOTHING for my life. This story is absolutely pathetic.

in Michael came on the scene six months after I buried my eleven year old son.I cried and thought of him when I heard I want you back.To me Michael is the Biblical suffering servant, prince of the children of my people, and the one that kicks satan out of heaven. If I am right, then those that are speaking ill of him will shortly see when the evil spirits descend to earth and discomfort the earths people.First of all, regardless to the white angels and Biblical characters portrayed in stories and media-truth is they were all black.Religious research shows this,as I told Tupacs mother-he was and is Lord Shiva.I know the Aztecs and Mayans worshipped Shiva and Kali-the Black Madonna.Their people were here, which is why Columbus called them Indians.Illiteracy and racisms the norm for the people in this land.Libraries are free, why then are so many Americans ignorant of history.Alot of whites know the deal, but, hides it.These are the end times and the deadly and final pestilence is here.I am J.welby Broaddus of Tabernacles protege.Get real people.

Usher wearing sunglasses, miriahs dressed for bed, latoya where was your face, liza tell the truth you werent getting paid for appearance and liz taylor you should’ve got in your chair and rode down there to give your respects to a man who loved you dearly, and brooke how long did it take you to practice your speech and the tears oh yeah and what in the world were you looking at on the ceiling is that where you hid your notes? I think micheal would have wanted a more secretive send off as he was very private and secluded his personal life as much as he could and would never have made a specticle of himself as others did on his behalf. He is at peace he was a great person let him rest forever peacfully now. Oh yeah one more thing how many of you shed a tear or fell to peices that were the very people that were his accusers and tormentors all his adult life you shouldve show just as much concern for him while he was here.shame on you

I am absolutely disgusted at the fans that attended. What kind of people would at grab his brothers while carrying his casket, and shout, whistle, during a funeral??? I know he is an icon but give me a break! Have they no respect for his family? Do they go to their family’s funeral and behave that way? I seriously doubt it! It made me so sad for his children I mean come on cheering and clapping at a FUNNERAL, it’s not like it was the grammys having an remembrance ceremony. I hope other celebrity’s don’t give into the pressure of a public service, they should be allowed to say good-bye in private. I am truly disappointed, I could just go on and on over this. His little girl is so heart broken over her loss.

PEOPLE ARE SO IGNORANT AND MEAN. MICHEAL WAS NOT PROVED GUILTY, IS IT TOO MUCH TO BELIEVE THAT THE KIDS PARENTS COACHED THEIR CHILDREN TO SAY THOSE THINGS SO THEY COULD GET PAID? MIKE MIGHT HAVE PAID THEM OFF TO END THE WHOLE SHOW BECAUSE HE COULDN’T TAKE THE HARASSMENT ANYMORE. OUR WORLD IS SO F**KED UP AND OUR WAY OF THINKING IS FOUL. WHAT IF ALL OF YOU ARE WRONG ABOUT THE ACCUSATIONS OF MIKE? THEN WHAT? YOU SHOULD NOT BE SO QUICK TO JUDGE PEOPLE. MAYBE WHEN ITS YOUR TIME TO BE JUDGED YOU WILL BETTER UNDERSTAND WHY YOU SHOULD LOOK DEEPER INTO SOMEWONES HEART. MIKE HAD A GOOD HEART AND HE ENDURED A LOT. HE GAVE ALOT OF HIMSELF TO THE ENTIRE WORLD. HIS KIDS ARE WELL MANNERED AND FULL OF LOVE AND HIS DAUGHTER WAS NOT FORCED TO SPEAK, SHE ASKED JANET COULD SHE SPEAK ABOUT HER FATHER. ALL OF YOU HATERS OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES AND I HOPE YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW. GOD BLESS!!!

I thought it was a beautiful service - and when i tuned in, i was truly expecting a service that was lavish and very over the top. I didn’t think it was any of those things. I knew that Michael was a giving man, but I didn’t know exactly to the extent that he was. I was really listening to the lyrics to his work and heard them differently. I do think the memorial service was appropriate, but now, I wish the media would let them grieve in peace.

The service was nice. BUT…..he’s dead, life goes on, quit harping on the subject and start reporting REAL news; how long is the media going to continue beating the story to death.

Sorry for the family’s loss but it was a three ring circus like Never, never land at a $4 million dollar price tag - too much in all aspects. I can’t idolize a pedophile.

I was a Jackson fan and yes he did have a lot of problems. I have one question. Did the City Of LA Pay for any Tributes for any American Soldier killed in Iraq or Afghanistan? Our Military Men and Women should receive such memorial tributes. Enough

is he GOD? such blatant homage to a man with questionable behavior. While he made it rich in the music industry what has he really done for humanity. I am sick and tired of seeing people put on pedestals. Lets put our military up there, they have given their lives for us, Michael in a round about way took his through drug abuse - what does this speak to our society - we applaud such behavior and hold these individuals in high regard.

To Ruby-You seriously have some issues. How dare you compare Michael Jackson to ANYONE biblical?! He was NOBODY to be worshipped. He was NOWHERE near to being Jesus Christ. He was a sick perverted freak. You need some serious mental health help, you crazy lunatic.

Michael Jackson our family will miss you. We too enjoyed your music and talent in dancing. My daughter and son argued over the red jacket like yours. I played “Triller” for the children at Halloween. With Love!

You people must remember that most people serving in Iraq want to be there because they supported an idiot like Bush. And remember still that not one of his family members was ever in Iraq taking a bullet for their country. Everyone over the age of two knows who Michael Jackson is. He is an Icon, King of the world. Theres only been one other person on the planet that touched as many lives and that was Mother Theresa and she was truly a SAINT.Leave Michael alone, he did the best he could do for the world and that was pretty damned good.

Drugs, tracks, dangling baby, child molestation payoffs. Yep, he’s king of the world. It’s a shame when society holds up a piece of trash in comparison to Mother Theresa. Where are the priorities?
