Cincinnati Art Museum drops admisssion fees (adds parking charge)
The Cincinnati Art Museum today announced it will no longer charge for admission to its special exhibitions, to further its mission of bringing art and people together and to enhance its policy of free admission for all visitors.
“We believe it’s important to make the Art Museum accessible to everyone, especially when so many people are facing economic challenges,” said Cincinnati Art Museum director Aaron Betsky in a press release. “We are committed to bringing great art free to our visitors, from world-class special exhibitions to outstanding works by artists from the Cincinnati region.”
Beginning Feb. 10 the museum will institute a $4 per vehicle parking fee for non-members. The museum will continue to provide free parking for school groups, members, and volunteers.
“Surrealism and Beyond in the Israel Museum, Jerusalem,” opening to the public on Feb. 15, will be the first special exhibition with free entrance to all visitors. In its only U.S. showing, “Surrealism and Beyond” will present over 200 works from luminaries of the Dada and Surrealist movement, including Salvador Dali and Rene Magritte to Joan Miro and Pablo Picasso.
