Looks to be a three-way dance for Furmon’s seat

Tim “T.C.” Rogers filed his petitions Tuesday for the Butler County Commission seat currently occupied by Commission President Chuck Furmon. Furmon’s term is up for election in November 2012. It expires on Jan. 1, 2013.

With Rogers, of West Chester Twp., filing, Fumon having petitions pulled and Rep. Courtney Combs, R-Hamilton, declaring his intentions to run, it will be a three-way primary campaign for this commission seat.

No Democrat has pulled a petition for Furmon’s seat as of 1:30 p.m.

Also, no one has pulled a petition, or filed a petition, for the other County Commission seat up for election in November 2012, currently occupied by Commissioner Don Dixon. Dixon’s term expires on Jan. 2, 2013.

Rogers filed his petitions on Tuesday afternoon. He’s been a Realtor/home builder in Butler County for more than 35 years.

In a press release announcing his candidacy: “After analyzing the county’s finances and how the present county offices related to each other, I felt my unique experiences are needed to move Butler County forward from its present level of uncertainty. In my own business, I deal with good, loyal people in several county offices and there appears a lack of confidence about their jobs and how the operation of their responsibilities will be affected in the future. I am not a longtime politician, I just see an opportunity to do what I do best, manage jobs for the future.”

Furmon should wait to the last minute and file to run for Dixon’s seat and let Combs and Rogers battle for his old seat.

Furmon has done a good job as commissioner and deserves to be re-elected.

Combs is a stereotypic politician. The same day he said he wanted Coley’s Senate seat he changed his mind and said he would run for Bulter Co. Commissioner. Guess he just wants any political office.

the best suggestion i have heard recently is to get combs back in butler county to bring much needed leadership to the commissioners office and send the wimpy, whiny, weasly auditor reynolds to columbus. the county, just like liberty twp in the past, will be estatic to see reynolds take his ACT somewhere else. the amount of arrogance rhis jerk has belongs at the next level.
