Conditt assigned to four committees
COLUMBUS — Speaker of the Ohio House William Batchelder, R-Medina, has appointed State Rep. Margy Conditt, R-Liberty Twp., to serve on four standing committees at the Ohio House of Representatives.
Conditt will serve on the Public Utilities, Judiciary, Criminal Justice and Local Government committees.
“I am pleased to have a hand in overseeing the legislation that comes through these committees,” Conditt said. “This opportunity allows me to look in-depth at many of the issues facing Ohio.”
Conditt, who serves the residents of the 55th House District, was recently appointed to the seat formerly held by Bill Coley, who was appointed to fill a vacancy in the Ohio Senate.

TweetHouse concurrs on Senate amendments to road naming bill
COLUMBUS—State Rep. Courtney Combs, R-Hamilton, announced Tuesday the Ohio House concurred on Senate changes to Substitute House Bill 65, legislation that incorporates 24 memorial highways and six memorial bridges in honor of heroic Ohioans. The legislation also authorizes the Director of Transportation to erect suitable markers along the highways indicating their names.
“The families of those soldiers and individuals included in this legislation have been waiting for this to be passed for years in most cases,” Combs said. “This bill recognizes the significant service and sacrifice of a number of men and women who honorably served our country, and I am pleased that my bill became the vehicle that will provide that recognition for the soldiers and for many deserving families. I initially introduced this bill to recognize Marine Lance Corporal Taylor Prazynski, but I have grown infinitely proud and moved by each of those individuals being recognized today.”
The Ohio Senate included a provision to create the “Honor Our Fallen” license plate, for which a $15 contribution would be paid to the Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Society.
The House unanimously concurred on the Senate amendments to Sub. H.B. 65, which now awaits the signature of Gov. John Kasich.

TweetLooks to be a three-way dance for Furmon’s seat
Tim “T.C.” Rogers filed his petitions Tuesday for the Butler County Commission seat currently occupied by Commission President Chuck Furmon. Furmon’s term is up for election in November 2012. It expires on Jan. 1, 2013.
With Rogers, of West Chester Twp., filing, Fumon having petitions pulled and Rep. Courtney Combs, R-Hamilton, declaring his intentions to run, it will be a three-way primary campaign for this commission seat.
No Democrat has pulled a petition for Furmon’s seat as of 1:30 p.m.
Also, no one has pulled a petition, or filed a petition, for the other County Commission seat up for election in November 2012, currently occupied by Commissioner Don Dixon. Dixon’s term expires on Jan. 2, 2013.
Rogers filed his petitions on Tuesday afternoon. He’s been a Realtor/home builder in Butler County for more than 35 years.
In a press release announcing his candidacy: “After analyzing the county’s finances and how the present county offices related to each other, I felt my unique experiences are needed to move Butler County forward from its present level of uncertainty. In my own business, I deal with good, loyal people in several county offices and there appears a lack of confidence about their jobs and how the operation of their responsibilities will be affected in the future. I am not a longtime politician, I just see an opportunity to do what I do best, manage jobs for the future.”
