Ohio First Lady to promote Shared Harvest program
Ohio First Lady Karen Kasich will visit the Middletown Early Learning Center Thursday afternoon to learn more about the Fairfield-based Shared Harvest Foodbank’s BackPack Program.
The program provides weekend food for elementary children who are identified as being at risk of hunger. Thursday’s visit is a rescheduling of the canceled visit on May 5.
The First Lady will tour the Middletown Early Learning Center, 1516 First Ave., and then help distribute BackPacks from Shared Harvest to children in the Early Learning program.
Kasich will also meet with parents and children to discuss the importance of the program and have a luncheon with advocates for childhood hunger programs and educators.
