State Central Committeewoman letters sought

HAMILTON — The Butler County GOP screening committee is accepting letters of interest from those who’d want to be recommended to the state central committee to replace Mary Swain as state central committeewoman.

Swain was appointed by the GOP in January as Butler County Clerk of Courts.

The screening committee will make the recommendation to the State Central Committee, which will actually make the appointment for the state Senate District 4. The non-compensated appointment will expire at the end of 2012.

Those interested women should send letters to the Butler County Republican Party, 3431 Princeton Road, Suite 100, Fairfield Twp., Ohio 45011.

The screening committee will meet on April 4 and the recommendation selection will be made at April 6.

Anyone with questions should call GOP screening committee chair Don Spurlock at (513) 777-4550 or the GOP headquarters at (513) 893-5292.

Isn’t it wonderful how the Journal-News is told about this meeting before the local central committee members. GOP leadership is lacking big time and the old dogs must be replaced.

Why does it have to be a “committeewoman”? Why not just the best “person” for the job?

Tim Evans? Isn’t he a lawyer? Can’t we just have Mary resume her former duties on the committee and let him be Clerk of Courts? ;)

@Whatever, State By-laws of Both parties require 1 committee man and 1 committee woman for each state senate district.

Mary Swain is a blight on the party, airing everything in public. She said she was going to keep this position. She lied to the party. She should give up her clerkship as fast as she gave up this position.
