Carpenter sworn in

The elect is now dropped from Cindy Carpenter’s title.

Newly sworn in Butler County Commissioner Cindy Carpenter took the oath of office today, Jan. 3, administered by Ohio 12th District Court of Appeals Judge James Walsh. Her husband Ralph Barker stood beside her during the oath.

In the lobby of the Government Services Center, Carpenter’s Butler County Clerk of Courts staff witnessed the oath.

This quote sits on Carpenter’s now former County Clerk of Courts desk: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

She said following her swearing in: “Today, we’ve changed the world and I’m honored to call you my friends.”

She now assumes the seat vacated by now former Butler County Commissioner Greg Jolivette — figuratively and literally (she’s sitting in his former spot on the dais).

By What Will We Get in 2011?

We will be watching Ms. Carpenter. Hopefully, she will bring us some common sense and some frugality on money spent. Would like to see the entire Commission direct some attention to the northern part of Butler County. West Chester isn’t the only entity in this county. There are other areas of the county that need attention, commissioners. Many issues outside the Hamilton city limits. Let’s deal with them for a change.

Apparently, my last comment struck a nerve since it has been removed. Some people just don’t like the truth and the truth is Cindy Carpenter will bring no change, she will be a lap dog and a vote for whatever Sheriff Jones and Don Dixon want.

It’s nice to have another commissioner who will be fiscally conservative and display some good business sense. Perhaps she and Commissioner Dixon can teach Mr. Furman a thing or two about serving the true interests of Butler County.

To FISCALLY FED UP? ARE YOU SERIOUS? While I agree with you that Furmon is pretty bad with saving money, but Carpenter and Dixon combined together are going to rake the county over. They are both owned by Sheriff Jones, who has the largest budget in the county, has almost doubled the percentage of the county budget that belongs to him since the days of Gabbard and yet has less deputies on the road. He will get want he wants and they will screw the rest of the county over. And no, I’m not a democrat. I’m a registered Republican that is actually a Reagan Conservative. These people are whats wrong with the republican party.
