One must wonder how much of this travel that county employees and officials do is really necessary and how much is just a fun trip out of town. Hope Jonesy has fun in sunny California.

It would be interesting to know just how much the county spends each year on travel. Some of the county offices seem to think they are on the Amazing Race.

The budget director estimated that Butler County would spend $226,000 next year on travel. Last year Little Donnie Dixon proposed to cut travel but with his buddy Rick booking travel plans to California, he objects to cutting travel. With Donnie it’s all about whose Ox is getting gored, it’s time to say home and get some work done Sheriff Jones.

Hey, a Christmas vacation on the taxpayer’s dime to one of the ritziest destinations in America, Palm Beach - what’s wrong with that? Must be a serious incursion of illegals, you know, maids, masseuses, cabana boys, chefs. No wonder our sheriff is a tea party favorite.

Look at the National Sheriffs Association Website, they have two conferences a year and they are always in some high price destination. They don’t have conferences in places like Hamilton and Middletown. What strikes me as strange is that Rickie Boy will travel all the way across country to a meeting but won’t leave his office for meetings here in Butler County with the County Police Chiefs Assocataion.
