Roundtable opening question
There won’t be question by question coverage, but the opening question is: What do you see as the main challenges that you would hope to address if you’re elected to the County Commission?
Butch Hubble said it’s the economy.
“We need to get it back to a sane condition.”
“I’m going to be working very hard to bring jobs back to our county and raise the quality of life for everyone.”
“One of the great things about our county. We have a lot of great resources. We’re resource abundant.”
Those resources: air, wind, water and solar.
Cindy Carpenter said it’s getting the general fund budget under control.
“I think we can bring that under control by reducing expenditures,” she said. “Cut spending, reduce our taxes, do more with less., and I think there’s a lot of areas within the county that we can do more with less.”
Before she said the county was all spending too free and spending efficiencies need to be upheld.
“Now, that paradigm has changed. the office holders can’t have anything they want.”
She’d also work with more partnerships, with other jurisdictions and county departments.
