Closing remarks

The Butler County Commission Roundtable is over. There were several questions that the moderators did not address, but they should be either in the newspaper or online.

Both commission candidates were able to make closing remarks. Butch Hubble went first:

Hubble: “All my life I have seem to be in the service of being. Having put two very successful careers behind me and coming back home to retire, sometimes life hands you a curve every so often. I have been successful in my life in what ever I do.

He continued: “I bring a lot of experience with management…. We were two of the departments that brought funding to our city. I was in charge of large materials, gathering. I am ready in all respects to move forward with Butler County to cause Butler County to be the place it should be. To put Butler County back on the map.”

Carpenter: “(Butch) is a wonderful man and I really respect him. I understand he has a true commitment to the community. My heart is also in the community and I’ve been listening go the community.”

She continued by saying it’s not important to just have a balance budget, “but pay attention to what’s happening.” Also, the County cannot overspend and should build its cash reserves.

“I know the players, I know who are the good workers and who keep their noes to the ground.”

I agree with Ms Carpenter. We need someone to pay more attention to the trends of the economy and watch the county budget more closely.
