GOP the ‘party of inclusion’

News release from the Campaign of Thomas McMasters (includes a handy link to the League of Women Voters candidate list):

The Oxford League of Women Voters published their list of candidates for the upcoming primary elections at http://oxford.oh.lwvnet.org/primary.html . An examination shows only the Republican primary offers voters a chance to participate in the selection of general election candidates. This dispels the myth that the Republican Party is the party of “no”. Instead it shows it is the only party of inclusion. It also provides the perfect opportunity for independents and other moderates to join in the political process and lead one of the major parties back to responsible regulatory and fiscal policies.

The League’s website tells you how to find the websites of the candidates. Examine the three candidates for the 8th Congressional Seat and examine the 6 candidates for the County Commissioner race. Educate yourselves, join the political discussion and select the Republican ballot this primary season. I’m ready for a party of inclusion, won’t you join me there!

No question the Butler County Republican Party is the party of inclusion. After all it includes democrats Don Dixon, Greg Jolivette and Robin Piper. How more inclusive could it be?

It isn’t a sign of inclusion, it is a sign of internal division. The Repubs are pulling themselves apart. It is also a sign that the Butler Republican Party for decades has been the only game in town. Win the Repub Primary and you’ve won the General Election too. Hopefully that is changing in 2010 with a revitalized Democratic Party. McMasters is engaged in wishful thinking.

Republican Party + party of inclusion Democrat Party = party of DELUSION! The Dems have been overtaken by Marxist leadership and most regular people in the party REFUSE to see it.

DO you slack jawed yokels think there is a correlation between how horrible it is to live here and the amount of Republicans that dominate your local politics?

Yeah, based on some of the stories I have seen the republicans are very inclusive of things like lesbian strippers in bondage clubs. LOL!

Party of Delusion indeed…The Republicans are a party of crap thanks to their endless cow-towing to the religious right. The only plank the Republicans seem to have held on to (although it wasn’t one of their original planks) is their self-righteous, Big Gov’t/Big Brother morality stance. The Republicans have discarded civil liberties in favor of national security from phantom threats. That’s exactly what has now created the Liberatarian Party as true Republicans couldn’t run fast enough away from a party hellbent on abandoning it’s limited federal gov’t stance and starting fake wars all over the globe in the name of fighting terrorism. When the best the party can do is put up 2 stooges for Pres./VP it’s clear they have no message and no purpose but to oppose any idea that someone else creates.

Interesting viewpoints but they don’t change the fact that if you are a voter in Butler County and you want to contribute to picking a general election candidate the only way to do it is to tell the poll worker you want a Republican ballot!

From a recent Ohio Attorney General Jennifer Brunner email: “The Ohio General Assembly passed (a) law that requires voters be challenged when changing parties for a primary election, and I am charged with enforcing that law. If I could change the law I would, but I don’t have that power. So an outdated law that favors political parties over voters requires me to enforce a “closed” primary system over our increasing demand for openness.”

Warning to all: It’s a felony to pull the opposition’s ballot in order to throw the election. On Friday, Jennifer Brunner decided to up hold this law with a directive to all Ohio BOEs. You will be asked to sign something vowing that you really are switching parties if you decide to try this.

Ohio law clearly allows people to choose which party primary they want to vote even if this means switching current parties. The Secretary of State’s letter would be more useful with an explanation of what conditions would prevent a voter from exercising that privilege. Also, it would be interesting to see a reference to the code that implies the Secretary of State is required to educate voters of the half of the law which tells people not to vote just to mess up another parties election but not inform them of the half which tells independents they can declare a party or other people they can switch parties.

And again Tom, why have a primary? …the reason I left the Republican party: because all of the Republicans are identical, afraid to step outside of the main stream. They have abandoned fiscal conservatism and limited federal gov’t, but they just can’t wait to appease the religious right with opinions which really shouldn’t factor into how they work in their offices or represent their constituents. This country needs to get out of the “World Policeman” role and start creating a healthy economy. Unfortunately Republicans can’t seem to get away from “Pro-life” and “Tough on Terrorism” as their only meaningful stances. Nothing but empty rhetoric and meddling in morals. Sadly Democrats are just as bad.

To Alan Since we are all the same will you vote for me because I’m asking for your vote? I usually prefer to ask people to look at the websites provided by the 3 candidates knowing if people do they will appreciate the frankness. All three congressional candidate links can be found at the Women’s League link above. In your case I’ll just ask for you to vote for me out of the good of your heart.
