Boehner, challenger on health care vote
House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-West Chester Twp. on the U.S. House floor just before the health care vote yesterday:
Statement from Justin Coussoule on Passage of Health Reform Bill:
“Last night’s vote made history, achieving what American leaders have sought to do for 100 years. Families in the 8th District and across the country will see immediate benefits. Children with chronic conditions will no longer be denied coverage due to pre-existing conditions, a benefit that will soon expand to all Americans. Young adults, struggling to find jobs in this tough economy, can now be covered under their parents’ plans for much longer. And seniors will no longer struggle to pay for prescriptions as the “donut-hole” in prescription coverage will be closed over the coming years.”
“In the long-term, residents will see improved coverage, with insurance regulations that eliminate the worst practices of insurance companies, including the practice of dropping coverage when consumers become very ill. And the bill extends coverage to 32 million Americans who currently have no insurance, achieving near universal coverage and ensuring that Americans will no longer face bankruptcy due to unforeseen medical costs.”
“Despite claims to the contrary, the bill also will help to reduce health care costs and lower the deficit. The Congressional Budget Office estimates the bill will reduce the deficit by $143 billion in the first ten years, and then by $1.2 trillion in the following decade.”
“Last night’s victory over obstructionism recommits us to core American values because we are all truly interconnected, especially when it comes to health care, and we can all benefit when we’re all in the system together.”
A West Pointer and former Army captain, Justin Coussoule (pronounced kuh-SOO-lee) is the Democratic candidate for Congress in the Eighth Congressional District. Following his military service, Coussoule practiced law, fighting to ensure injured workers received just compensation, and opened a small business in Massachusetts before moving to Southwest Ohio. He currently works for a global consumer products company in Cincinnati. Coussoule lives in Liberty Township with his wife, Amanda, and their two young children.

Gee, no favoritism here…the D gets his press release and his bio in the article, Congressman Boehner gets his title and a video clip that is 10 minutes long. Wonder which one most people watched/read?

Boehner is the one NOT LISTENING to his District 8 constituents whose median income is under $45/K per year. He only hears the ones that lend him their corporate jets. I wonder if he has yet met an American in favor of Health Care Reform? Good luck in your retirement John.

John Boehner is a total embarassment to the area he represents, the State of Ohio and the country in general. I was totally disgusted watching his tantrum on C-Span last night. HE MUST GO!! Are there re-call procedures for menbers of congress?

Gloat and enjoy Josh. We can handle it until Nov. Its freedom of the press,(obviously not fairness of the press). But it doesn’t matter, I learned a long time ago that if I am to enjoy my constitutional rights,I must yeild the rights of flag burners, war protesters, and other legal but undesirable types. If the people who framed the constitution could see the socialist agenda thats taking place today, they would roll over in their graves.

If Amaericans have been waiting for this for so long why,was it so unpopular in every objective poll, why did the Democrats have to twist arms and use pure sleeze to pass it. Why would Americans want a healthcare that has failed everywhere it has been done? You obviously did not check on how it was determined that this would save money. What gov’t program ever came in anywhere close to what they predicted? Socialized med. bankrupts everywhere. Boehner defends the Constitution and he’s an obstuctionist?! Trying learning whatour constitution says. People that worked hard to provide care for their families don’t deserve to have that ruined. The author needs to learn what words mean and investigate rather than copy talking points of the party. He may think for himself when he matures.

Traditional Health Insurance is by its nature inflationary. There is no insentive for the individual to negotiate costs with the doctors. Also, since insurance companies make their 4% profit based on how much money they pay out there is no insentive for them to try and restrict. For example if I go in and see my foot doctor and she sees me and send me home the cost is just $50. This means the insurance company only gets $2 profit. But if she sells me night splints for $200 and gives me steriod shots for $100 then they get $12 more all for the same visit. Also, we already know how much it costs for policies with no restriction on pre-existing conditions because most employeer based polices don’t have enrollment restrictions. These policies cost on average $1300 per month. Every person with individual policies should expect their premiums to go up to this level. These are some of the reasons I am against this bill. Lets see, Congressman Boehner, a republican, was totally against this bill. His DEMOCRAT challenger was all for it, hook line and sinker. WHO DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING? Does anyone from EITHER PARTY actually think for themselves or do they all just do the bidding of their party leaders? As far as I’m concerned the most independent ones are the 20 or 30 Dems that voted against it, not because they voted against it, but because they went against their party!

Hey Tom, the 4% profit is net profit, which is after overhead. Guess what part of the insurance industries overhead is, besides administration, its their benefits paid out. So tell me, if their 4% is based off of payouts and the 4% is after payouts, how does that make since? In real life, the less the insurance industry pays out equals HIGHER net profit. Simple math example. Insurance Company A takes in 1000 dollars from its customers. Its administration costs are 300 dollars and it pays out 660 dollars for benefits, then that means it made 40 dollars net profit or 4%. Now Company B takes in 1000 dollars and has 300 in admin costs and pays out only 620 dollars in benefits, then that’s 80 dollar net profit or 8%. So tell me, the which has a bigger profit the ones who pay more or less? Aren’t you running for congress? U need to do a lot of studying before you get into a debate with these guys

Reply to (by To Tom McMasters): Your logic makes some sense in a normal business model but health insurance hasn’t had to work on the normal short time period outlook model. Since most people don’t pay attention to how much their company is paying toward their insurance premiums my logic is representative of the actual health insurance business model. They have been able to feign a hardship for covering all these extras because it has been guaranteed they could get rate increases at will Read my articles at tfmsview.com

Bottom line 4% profit on $10 billion dollars worth of business is $400 million. 4% profit on $100 billion is $4 billion. The insurance company executive have 3.6 billion reasons to encourage the doctors to try and get me to take another cortisone shot.

The Republican party are an still protecting the insurance companies why do you think they are screaming so loud? who do you think pays their vacation fees? He is not listening to the people. We want help!! Should have been long ago. Even Eisenhour, and Reagan tried to get health care passed. Why so different now. Just check their bank accounts.

What is the root cause of high health care costs? (Nonpayment for services?) Who will pay for children born out of wedlock who don’t know who their fathers are. Who will pay for those will unhealthy and non-productive life styles?

Dear Conservative Voice,Why didn’t you “conservatives” press Bonehead Boehner to give up HIS well-above-average healthcare paid for by US ? He literally does NOT have a leg to stand on arguing against it.HE WORKS for the insurance companies, not his constituents.LEAD BY EXAMPLE !!@!!
